There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their cart. Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping cart. Therefore the shopping cart presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it. No one will punish you for not returning the shopping cart, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping cart, you gain nothing by returning the shopping cart. You must return the shopping cart out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping cart because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct.

A person who is unable to do this is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it.

The Shopping Cart is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society.

agreed though. the worst are people who leave their shopping carts in an empty parking space. Someone could have their vehicle damaged. On a windy day I actually witnessed a shopping cart strike some old lady who was unloading some groceries into her trunk and it knocked her over, but she was fine. But could have been alot worse.

What you guys don't understand is that I am from a time before shopping carts were expected to be returned.

The parking lots were littered with carts which became something of an obstacle course for mom's doing their grocery shopping, so the stores hired boys to run around the parking lot collecting empty carts.

Now most of the time, I do return my cart, but if the store wasn't nice enough to make convenient cart return locations, I will leave my cart on the outskirts of the lot proud of the fact that some kid still has a job collecting my cart.

I can't stand leaving carts in empty parking spots. At least once a week I find myself removing a cart from a spot so someone could park there.

There's no excuse for such lazy behavior. While I do understand it gives the cart collectors a job, you could still leave your cart ANYWHERE ELSE but an empty parking spot. Just sayin'.

I worked at Costco pushing carts for a long time. I loved that job. Didn't give a fuk if people left carts anywhere, only the people who closed the store had to really worry about cleaning up every last cart. Used to just pop my headphones in and listen to audio books all day and walk around. 20-25k steps every day, good excersize, fresh air, little to no responsibility, good pay and benefits. I transferred recently but at one point I was making like 27 an hour to fart around all day. I think I was averaging like 30 audio books a year too. Time and a half on Sundays had me at like 36 an hour.

thats pretty crazy they are paying that much for unskilled labor and wonder why we have inflation. If they realized they could "contract" out illegal mexicans like they do for the floor at night. i guess that cart collector is a more customer facing role but they could prob get away with it now that most of the US has been subverted to have sympathy for illegal mexicans. Then they can pay them like 4 bucks an hour equivalent. They pay a contractor who hires the illegal so if they ever get caught they just claim ignorance and state they werent actual costco employees and thus they never checked their papers. That is what they do with the floor cleanign crews in most retail stores but the mexicans come in at night when the customers arent around.

It's just Costco bro. Doesn't matter what your job is there they pay well considering it's retail. That was my topped out rate at the time also so it took a few years to get there, they hire at like 14 now or something I can't remember.

The only part I disagree with is the comparison to animals. Humans have the ability to think rationally. Animals do not. Therefore the animals are better than the humans who do not return their cart. You cannot penalize an entity that is not equipped with proper brain functions.

There was this one time at banned camp where I was walking out to my car and witnessed the person leave their cart nearly touching the car next to them. I moved their cart behind their car so they couldn't back out. It felt great, but they literally just got out of their car and pushed it away rather than putting it back.

The people that leave their cart behind are typically self entitled liberals. The type of person that would berate you for using too much energy while talking on their iPhone which was made by slave labor overseas, then shipped over the ocean burning incredible amounts of fossil fuels, then when the new iPhone comes out, they ditch their current model which then gets shipped over seas again to the e-waste desert in Ghana where the decaying electronics leech into the soil.

I think it's okay to not return the cart if the cart corral is far away.
