What is the best way to build a resume?

Looking for templates online or something similar. Any ideas? Will rep. BTW field is finance and real estate
(these are my opinions i am not a licensed broker by trade)

Go to a local bookstore. They have tons of books on resumes with sample resumes. Pick the one that you like. Better than most chit that you find on the web. And spend some time on it. Don’t half-ass it.

Bruh, that's a terrible idea, there's no need to waste money on resume books when you can get free samples online.

There’s actually apps that do it. I did one on an app and then transferred it to indeed and it looks professional. If not that find a hottie on LinkedIn that does them. Might get a 2 for one deal

Make one master resume with absolutely everything on it you have done, All the educaton and everything.

This isnt one you will give to anyone, its just got all the info in one place.

When you apply for a position, copy and paste relevant information to the resume for that job.

Once you get a few of these finished resumes, its just a matter of tweaking them for the job you are apllying for.

They arent really that important anyway. keep it to a minimum.

Cover letter is what gets you interviewed, personality gets you hired.

resumes whould list something you did to solve an issue. Identify the issue and steps you took to solve it. That sort of thing.

what do you put if you dont have too much previous work experience? Basically ive worked at Target, been an airbnb host, did baseball coaching/instructor and right now I am a full time student.

If you are applying to finance industry, what skills in your previous jobs have helped you with that? What in school are you learning that applies? Make sure to highlight these relevent skills/knowledge even if you wouldn't think those jobs could directly help in the field.

Google templates or use MS word templates. Tailor your resume/cover letter to the job, only put relevant experience and put keywords to get past the HR automation filters. If a job posting has "required skills" make sure your resume and cover letter has those in there (and hopefully without embellishing).

That's it. Keep it short and sweet, although the 1 page myth is a myth.

You put down everything you possibly can. If you graduated college with little or no work experience in your field of study, just list your course work and skillsets. List all the jobs you've ever had even if those jobs aren't glamorous.

For example, I graduated with a degree in mathematics and a minor in accounting. The only jobs I've ever had up to that point were at Costco, working in the campus library, and doing volunteer work helping poor people file their taxes. I put all that sh/t on my resume even though it's completely irrelevant to my studies.

If you're a recent college graduate, your objective is to make sure your resume looks clean and uncluttered. Hiring managers know you won't have much work experience. Just send your resume out to anyone willing to look at it, present yourself as clean cut and responsible and take the first decent job offer you get.

You're objective is to just start accumulating work experience so you can pad your resume and move on to a better job that pays more after about 6 ~ 8 months.

I tell so many young grads this:"It's called job hunting, not job 'fishing'.... you don't just throw out a line and expect the fish to bite. You literally have to HUNT for a decent job."

But so many of these young kids never take this lesson to heart.
