Omicron 5 times more likely to reinfect than Delta; no less severe

The risk of reinfection with the Omicron coronavirus variant is more than five times higher and it has shown no sign of being milder than Delta.

“We find no evidence (for both risk of hospitalization attendance and symptom status) of Omicron having different severity from Delta.”

“Controlling for vaccine status, age, sex, ethnicity, asymptomatic status, region and specimen date, Omicron was associated with a 5.4-fold higher risk of reinfection compared with Delta.”

“This implies that the protection against reinfection by Omicron afforded by past infection may be as low as 19 per cent.”

Meanwhile out of South Africa they are saying Omicron admits 2% of patients to hospital as opposed to 18% for Delta.

I have omicron right now

Every report I’ve read and every person I’ve talked to who has gotten it says it’s like a cold

I can confirm except it’s probably more like an extremely extremely mild cold

Like id say for me it’s about 1/4 as bad as a common cold

I don’t know for sure just a best guess considering I’m double vaxxed (vaxx doesn’t work against this variant) and in Ontario we’ve noticed a massive spike in cases which they are attributing to omicron.

Oh and I also had all the main symptoms of omicron

Fever, scratchy (not sore throat) which is apparently a big identifier, sniffles, chills and tiredness.

Also no loss of taste or smell which apparently is another tell tale sign of omicron.
