Almost Christmas are you ready?

Are you all done shopping or do you have more to do? What are you plans for Christmas? Do you do big gatherings, small gatherings, or celebrate alone? What's on the menu for food this year?

Tell me your plans...

Shopped for a bunch of **** for the kid and one nice present for the wife.

It's nice being in a family that doesn't really do gifts except for your own kids. Never understood buying things for people rather than spending time with them. I'd rather have my bro call me too catch up than buy me some meaningless item.

I love that thought and our family is the same way. Last year kinda sucked, so I went a little overboard with gifts this year...something different.

Merry Christmas and enjoy the time with your family!

Merry Christmas!

I finished my Christmas shopping in Augusts. Kids will be opening gifts Christmas Eve since my hubby has to work Christmas Day and leaves for work at 4:30am.

I’ll be making Christmas Eve dinner for my ex-husbands family. And then Christmas Day I’ll be making dinner for my parents. Christmas night, husband brings my mother-in-law home to spend the night, after he gets off work. Unfortunately we can’t get everyone together at once at the same time lol. Dinner on Christmas Day will be Cornish game hens, glazed baby carrots, wild rice, rolls, and pumpkin pie.

You're going to be a busy momma but that sounds amazing! Your menu sounds delish and I hope after all of this you can take a nice long nap!

Never celebrated it, so I have zero holiday shopping to do like every year.

I'm actually relived because many people act and look visibly stressed during this time of year.

Still trying to draw Marys face of the pieta for my fam members as a gift. Usually I'm pretty confident and can get it done but there's something about this face that I can't get the proportions correct. If I dont get it done, framed and wrap, I'm getting them dri fit Nike socks instead lol. Probably just go to church the night before Christmas and not do much the next day. Getting ready for spring semester of cc.

I love the idea of your drawing and I'm sure it will beautiful when done. You'll get it figured out no pressure. Relaxing on Christmas sounds good and we do the same here.

I'm having a small gathering on Christmas Eve. Used to do huge gatherings every year and people would stay all night...no more lol! My menu is going to be simple this year. I'm making homemade meatballs with ziti and garlic bread. I'll throw together a nacho dip, cheese and crackers and chips and dips on the side. Haven't figured out my dessert yet.

Merry Christmas to you!

How come a smaller gathering this year? Shouldn't it get bigger every year. I personally made it a goal to get closer with family and create more social connections. I feel this is an area of life for me that needs more alot more work.

Merry Christmas to you too.

Just have finished watching only 10% of Xmas movies/TV show episodes on my must-watch list.

That means I still have a lot of fun to look forward to for this Xmas season.

I think I'm ready.

We have a very big family and we're all very close. For over 2 decades I did the huge Christmas Eve bash where family/friends would come, party and leave around 3 a.m. People grew up, started having families of their own, etc...my kids are grown and moved out of the house. I figured it was time for someone else in the family to take over the reigns.

Christmas is kind of lame for me the last couple years. My sister in law decided she doesn't want her family to celebrate Christmas, so it's just my parents and I for family time. Might get to spend a little time with my niece and nephew, but not much else. Kind of lame, but whatever. I got them gifts anyways, so

Maybe I should get started on a family of my own.... Maybe next year

This year's menu will be turkey and glazed ham as mains, with leafy greens salad, brussel sprouts and bacon, sausage rolls, stuffed potatoes, gratin and yorkshire pudding as sides, and trifle for dessert.

All homemade where possible because I enjoy making things from scratch.

Your Christmas get-togethers sounds like a blast, and nice party menu. Would gatecrash and nibble on

I probably will cook something nice. I don't like showing up without something I made. It makes me feel like a bum.

I did get an issue of some culinary magazine recently (subscribed to a few) and they had some really cool cookie recipes and ideas. I might give them a try and post the results here. Better yet I got some peppermint bark and Oreo bark. I wonder if I could melt it down and make some kind of topping with it....
