Progressives and younger voters push Biden to extend student loan moratorium

Creditors on suicide watch lmao.

The boomers need to just die off already. 10 years is way too long.

Do the logical thing and write the debt down.

Let’s be responsible here.

Don't underwrite the loan to somebody who won't be able to pay it back.

Two can play that game.

Nope.

I'm not advocating for it being totally forgiven. Maybe for certain cases.

But most of it needs to be written down based on what the debtor is capable of paying back.

Sorry, in this age of information overload if you racked up a bunch of debt on a degree that wasn't going to be useful that's on you. If you can't make a basic informed cost to benefit decision you have no business being apart of society anyway.

That will only trigger colleges to raise tuition even more. What incentive do they have to adjust tuition back to in tune with reality?

Yeah, like I've said before...I think a decent middle ground on this would be continuing to keep the loan interest at 0%. Perhaps even wipe out accrued interest for those who have a bunch. Anything beyond that, I do not agree with.

Isn't that the rub though?

"Outstanding consumer debt in the U.S. reached $14.88 trillion in 2020, according to data compiled by Experian.2 That figure represents an increase of more than $3 million in 2010.The main culprit is student loans, which the federal government effectively monopolized in a little-known provision of the Affordable Care Act, signed into law in 2010.

Prior to the Affordable Care Act, a majority of student loans originated with a private lender but were guaranteed by the government, meaning taxpayers foot the bill if student borrowers default. In 2010, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated 55% of loans fell into this category. Between 2011 and 2016, the share of privately originated student loans fell by nearly 90%.

Prior to the administration of Bill Clinton, the federal government-owned zero student loans, although it had been in the business of guaranteeing loans since at least 1965."

What does my job have to do with student loans?

How is it that people in the 80s, 90's, 2000's, etc could pay back their loans without whining?

New Study Shows College Kids are Using Student Loans to Travel

https://www.google.com/amp/s/thecult...ravel/%3famp=1

“The National Center for Education Statistics calculated that 20.5 million students will be attending college this year in the United States. Orbitz reported that 55% of students will be going on spring break,” writes LendEDU in a report.” Using this data, we can roughly calculate that 11,275,000 students will be going on spring break this year. And, it is estimated that 69% of all current college students use student loan debt by the time of graduation.

This should be forgiven?

The whole student loan situation is basically just an example of the failure of the college system. The whole point of getting that dept is supposed to be getting a job to pay it off with, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

At what point can we consider the universities predatory?

This is, once again, the result of government interference. Subsidies and a vast variety of failed economic policies are over valuing certain areas of study. There is no natural process of market supply and demand in higher education.

Nobody cares what you can deal with, you midget brained incel lmao.

The whole point is that the debt is ultimately going to forgiven. The laws will be rewritten, because the progressives are the largest caucus in the House.

The GOP is a progressive light party that is about 10 years behind. They’ll be forced to catch up when white boomers die away in 10 years if they wish to stay somewhat competitive.

When all this happens you’ll still be in your basement fapping to pics of Trump while clicking buttons on your Scwabb account.
