Santa brought Motion to the sim! [VID]
Hope everyone in the MISC had a good Christmas!
Santa brought full motion to the sim. Put together this little vid of some action. I did not get harnesses since I thought people were exaggerating. But this is only on setting 1 and it goes up to 3. So I ordered a harness last night!
First two clips are driving a lotus and last 2 are a McLaren P1. Last night, I ran it for about 40 minutes and was sweating soaked and wet. This is a workout!
Way too much fun. Running Assetto Corsa, but need to add some more to the library. AC is the best for what we SIM for which is carry over to real driving we are doing. But there are better looking titles for if we just want to have fun!

Installed Assetto Corsa Compitizone. It is all GT cup cars. We dont own one so I have just been running standard AC. But the graphics are better in the Compitizone version. It is cool. Here is a Porsche Cup car being put through it's paces. Running a cup car on the sim really beats you up a lot more. Just much more dynamic and violent car.
I am kinda beat after messing with it for about 45 min. Same feeling you get after being on real track. Tight stomach, maybe a touch of a headache. This is too much fun. Still only running on 1/3 settings. Harness coming and we can turn up the motion a little more just to see, but even at the 30% settings it is a workout.
Day after christmas is always the best. Get to play with all your kids toys!

There are companies that build entire setups. There are all different levels of controls from arcade type stuff to professional.
Mine is a GT Omega Prime Chassis, 3-32" curved 1440p 144hz monitors, with Fanatic controls, and Santa just added in the motion platform which is Next Level Racing motion V3.
You can start out small and just keep adding and upgrading. I invested in the sim because I wanted to get my son who is 14 out on the race track. I never had tracked cars until this past year, and I wanted to share it with my son. When I switched my track car to a lotus, he needed to learn to drive stick.
Driving stick on the road and on the track are two VERY different things. So I took him to a parking lot and taught him in 2 20 minute sessions how to start and stop. Then all his training was on the sim. His 3rd time ever driving stick in real life, was on the race track, and it was as if he had been driving stick for years!
This also helped a ton since we took a trip to VIR and we knew the track before getting there. There is never 100% transfer, but it is a really powerful tool. Used with actual driving, it can improve both! Really fun stuff.!
