Smoked Christmas Ham

I've gotten into smoking meats and cheese pretty heavily over the past few years. Figured I'd do a smoked ham for Christmas this year. It was 13 lbs and unfortunately I don't have pics before trimming and after slicing. Brown sugar and maple syrup glaze. It said to poke holes in a foil pan and put the trimmings in the pan above the ham so it would drip down and baste itself. I don't have enough room in my smoker so I took a bunch of toothpicks and made a tent over top with the trimmings so it would baste itself. Good stuff.

The fat in the trimmings drips over the ham and bastes it to keep moist. It looks weird the way I did it with toothpicks but I didn't know how else to get it done on the spot since there wasn't enough room in smoker to fit another pan with holes above the ham.

LOL I'll take that as a compliment

Better is subjective but I cooked it at low temp for 7 1/2 hours, it was very juicy/moist, had a nice hickory smoke flavor to it, and the glaze added a sweet kick. Ham was around $33 but it did have a pretty large bone in it. I didn't weight the meat only but I'd guess it was around 9 lbs meat after trimming and bone.
