PSA: $ - check your state for unclaimed money and property

If you Google "*your state* unclaimed property" it should take you to a site set up by your state's treasurer's office where you can claim money you might not know you had.

For example, years ago I was able to claim some money after my dad died that had been sitting under his name. I also had some kind of rebate from an old cell phone plan that somehow got sent to the state and they were holding it.

My brother currently has some money he is claming right now.

Might give you a few hundred dollars you didn't know you had.

I just looked it up and some communications company did refund me $95 dollars when I was living at my first apartment (over twenty years ago).

So the state of Tennessee does say they owe me $95.

That's awesome. There are a lot of misc refunds that some people never receive for whatever reason.
