Queensland has recorded 5,699 new cases of COVID-19, but authorities warn there are likely more unconfirmed infections in the community, with lengthy delays being experienced at testing sites across the state.

A total of 170 people are being treated in hospital for COVID-19.

Eleven of them are in intensive care, two on ventilators. Of the total number of hospitalisations,36 are unvaccinated.

It's encouraging that hospitalizations are low.

These numbers aren't telling the story you think they are OP

In the article you posted, Queensland is sitting at 90.8% of the population with one shot and 86.9% with two shots

Based on the hospitalization numbers right now, unvaccinated people make up 9% of the population (or 13% depending on whether unvaccinated means zero shots) but 21% of hospitalizations. We could look further into the data and compare who is being hospitalized by vaccination status and age, and I bet you the hospitalized unvaccinated group tends to be younger

The question would be where youth + lack of vaccination puts you at more risk than someone older but who is vaccinated.

But look at the data with more granularity and I bet you the hospitalized unvaccinated group tends to be younger and in better general health than the hospitalized vaccinated group

Probably haven't had their quarterly booster shot, so they're unvaccinated really.

Our census at our hospital shows vaxed hospitalizations going up from roughly 10% to 25%. It fluctuates wildly at times but will be curious over the coming months.

I’d like to discuss the use of the term vaccine. They had to change the definition to fit the narrative. It is not a vaccine in the traditional use of the word.

I read a few days ago in Melbourne that of the 53 in hospital, 100% were unvaccinated. Melbourne has a >90% vaccination rate.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I call BS on that number.
