Prince of Bel-Air remake trailer - it's officially over



Jfc, what were they thinking:

- where's the warmth, where's the humour
- Geoffrey is now played completely straight
- Uncle Phil looking like a producer/drug dealer who made it: "dunno, maybe we shouldn't save him if he doesn't want to be saved"
- Will's actor looks like Rami Malek in blackface
- won't even comment on nu Carlton
- only one that looks the part is Jazz

It all just feels so off and so forced - like its trying so hard to be different and crashing and burning.

I don't even know why Will Smith would be promoting this.

Looks like a reimaging of Fresh Prince but as a drama. It's not meant to be a modern recreation of the exact same premise with the exact same tone. Looks good to me. I'll give it a watch

Likely good nostalgia as well, I hope they give some nods to the original series. Yeah, it isn't a comedy but looks decent.

Why tf don't they just create new characters for their new show. Trying to piggyback off the name of the former hit show to produce their new ****box drama is ridiculous. Can't imagine the kind of people that would see this preview and want to watch that.

Not feeling it at all, the thing that made the original so good was the humor. Take that away and you have an average story of a kid moving to Bel-Air lol.

Yeah let's live in the past and just make horrible remakes. 80's + 90's successes will always plague modern televison/cinema. I'd rather we see original ideas, with money and focus on those things. No cliche dumb nods to actors/actresses from what the remake's about. Watch or not though, up to you.

The only remake-ish thing I actually enjoyed was the newest Spider-Man, but even that could've been done better.

Literally everything about the zoomer generation has been about piggybacking off of the 80's - early 2000's; terminology, fashion, any media

They have no identity of their own(which might explain why they created 75 faux genders)

Didn’t look great, but thought about giving it a shot until Carlton said “maybe one day we can talk about why you’re really here” and it flashed back to Will getting thrown around by cops and jumping out of a sleep/nightmare suffering from PTSD.


Not as bad as ruining a GOAT like the Wonder Years, but ruining a classing like Fresh Prince is still pretty damn bad. Is it just impossible to make shows that don’t constantly tell you that white people, cops, and any man who isn’t a complete pussy are terrible?? If not then why do they no longer exist? I mean, yes I know the original had the cop episode and it’s fine to cover that type of stuff, but these days it’s baked into the plot of the entire series.
