Would you skin and keep your dogs fur after it died?
A manager for a very high profile family I worked with years ago had a lovely dog. Always followed him around, even at work.
It was getting old and one day he asked me if I would skin it after it died and have the hide tanned for him, so he could use it as a cover for his motorcycle seat.
I was like...oh man...no freakin way...
That's weird and borderline psychopathic, right?

I know of people that get their pets stuffed or have had the hide tanned.

It wasn't even mine and it felt wrong.
Kudos I guess. It would be a good way to remember/immortalize the animal.

I think stuffing and the hide is weird myself, the skeleton I think would be neat because you don't immediately recognize it as your pet.

I have a aunt (no blood relation) who stuffed her golden retriever after it died. She was also mentally ill and had a hoarding disorder

I find it fitting to immortalize them in that way. Cremation. I donโt save any their fur.
Some places charge you a small fee to do the incineration then their ashes are collected into a small box.
They have dog themed jewelry too you can get a portion of their ashes put into and carry With you, too. I donโt wear jewelry so
I get the personalized box of ashes only. And paw print yes.
Otter dogs that are cremated at the same place around the same time you will end up with their ashes mixed in with yours. Unless you do a private cremation which costs a bit more.
If you have a larger breed the price will be higher. Boxers are considered a larger breed. It goes by weight..

Keeping the skull would be a nice momento, but itโs a bit morbid for my family. So realistically when our dogs go theyโre both probably just going to be buried

We buried one of my dogs. In my old house. Now I no longer live there. If I had her ashes i could have taken what remained of her with me. But Yes I am totally NOT opposed to burying your dog at all.
That should be completely acceptable. It is. I just felt like they were being compared to a Siamese fighting fish or a pet rat I guess. Anyway thatโs the only part I meant to comment on but my coffee is only just kicking in now.
