What would you do if a dog runs towards you and your dog?

How would you defend yourself and your dog? srs

I've never had a dog run towards me, but one time at a park we were passing by a chick with a large pitbull. She even had the leash tied around her waist, but even then she couldn't do anything to stop the pitbull from walking towards us. The chick just looked at me with scared eyes as her dog moved closer. I just picked up my dog and kept walking lol

You expect honest, rational adult answers here?

This thread would be like asking misc: What would you do if your enemies were burning down your city?

According to misc they would have went MacGuyver/Rambo and killed all the rioters with a single paperclip.

Reality: The beta male, most loud mouthed posters did jack **** in real life.

If that wasn't bad enough they coped with their yellow bellys by praising a fat, little pug faced child as "alpha"/their leader.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

i would pick my dog up if it was evident it was going to attack but i have a 100lb german shepherd so i'd probably let him bang and just use my fixed blade to disembowel the dog right there on the spot(ded fkn Srs)

If you can pickup your dog and easily handle it this is best. I have had this happen once with the breed of peace itself and my lab. I pulled my lab back stepped in front between the two and stomped my foot down. The pitbul stopped and turned around srs.

I was very young maybe not even 20 not sure what I was thinking but I was ready to fight that fgt pitty.

I would grab the pit and body slam it repeatedly on the ground until it was disabled, then grab it by the hind legs and continue to bash it on the ground until its head was mush.

Dude needed to let go of the leash so his dog could properly fight back, poor pup.

Sorry, but we need a pitbull holocaust (one that's real and actually happens vs a fake genocide)

My dog hangs back a bit when it sees another dog. When it happens I just take a few threatening steps towards the other dog, and it almost always makes it back up.

In a situation as pictured, the other dog is getting a knife right behind the shoulder as soon as it locks on.

Zero remorse in a case like that.

The dog pictured is most likely a malamute based on its size

The problem with malamutes is that they don’t quickly understand when a dog is a threat

Also it was 3 v 1

Anyway I’d start kerb stomping the skulls and gouging eyes as that’s the only hope against a pit

3 of them at once starts to get dicey though

First step is drop the god damn leash, give your poor dog a chance to defend itself.

1 vs 1 i feel comfortable against any dog that is around these parts. My girl is a tough bitch. Doesnt hurt carrying a pocket knife just in case.

I sometimes walk at a stadium that is at the edge of a city, and there are wild dogs in packs there. I hear them following us around the bushes and ****, but man im not scared of a fight, would help me to tire out my dog so she sleeps easier and lets me off the hook

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

My dog is love of my life but sadly kinda idiotic. She is a cocker but she'd probably run towards the chitbull

So first thing to do is to carry my dog and throw somewhere safe. And then I'd fake the chitbull with my left hand and as its trying to grab it Id immedistely stick my knife anywhere above its shoulders.

Damn, I don't carry a knife like some of you guys, but definitely wouldn't hesitate to defend my dog if needed. I'd probably start kicking the crap out of the ribs. Also my dog is only 15 lb so I have no choice but to pick him up if a larger dog runs towards us.

I can tell you one thing, when pups and I go to the pet store I evaluate if I see any pits in the store or any ghetto cruisers in the parking lot before I let my dogs out of the car.

After recent issues in my neighborhood I now carry bear spray. Local laws here would force me into really proving a case and dealing with a lot of hassle if I shot a dog, even a loose one.

This happened to my mom the other day in the park with our two tiny dogs. A huge bull dog bit down on our 15 lb Pom’s leg. The owner jump on his dog. My mom said she was paralyzed and was just trying to pick up our 3 lb dog.

Had it been me, my fingers would have gone right into the dogs eyes. I bought her dog pepper spray

I said she should just get a taser but she said that was inhumane

It's almost always pitbulls isn't it. srs In this video you have an irrisponsible owner who probably is not a strong pack leader, in fact is probably at the bottom of the pecking order of their own dogs, who can't control them, who probably thinks this behavior is somewhat desirable.

People's roving nanny dogs that have never harmed a fly end up attacking people and other dogs all of that time and that's why I carry a firearm. Don't get me wrong, I have a pit mix, and she is kept separate and if I take her out I have to keep that in mind. Wouldn't happen because I have control over her.

Only ever had one dog charge one of my dogs. Ripped the leash out of its weak owner's hand and charged my GSD who at the time was a little puppy. It took me months and months and months to get that dog able to walk comfortably again because the experience scarred my dog so bad.

And yes, it was a half pit bull.

I've been on walks with my doge and there was a loose dog running around. My doge is reactive so I pretty much start yelling at the owner to get their dog and try to walk away as fast as I can so that the loose doge doesn't get near us. It's always worked for me so far. I've never had a dog running at us to attack, thank goodness. But I would do what I had to to protect my boo.

Have a GSD as well. Sensitive dogs. It seems GSD puppies are a target for other dogs to attack, especially pits. Was at a park when this very thing happened. Cops were called. Best thing to do is report vicious animals. They can take the dog from the owner and they will test the dog, good chance the dog will be put down. Also owners can be charged.

Yeah he was a little pup at the time but he was a big male and its almost like the pit, who has always been the biggest dog in the neighborhood, saw a new big male challenger.

That pit is now up there in age and my GSD is in his prime at 3 years old and about 100 pounds and the pit does not come near him anymore.

That being said, something about the way a GSD looks with the erect ears challenges other alpha dogs or something, I agree. Why I said earlier in this thread I scan the pet store parking lot for ghetto cruisers or any evidence of pits before I take the GSDs inside.

I also have a smaller female GSD that is the sweetest dog I've ever had and I'd try my best to murder another dog that attacked her.
