Quebec announces a new health tax for unvaccinated people

Quebec Premier François Legault said Tuesday the province would be imposing a health tax on Quebecers who refuse to get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the coming weeks. François Legault says unvaccinated people are financially burdening the health care system, and that they'll have to make a 'health care contribution.'

Legault did not say when the tax would take effect or how much it would cost, but he did say he wanted it to be significant enough to act as an incentive to get vaccinated — more than 50 or 100 dollars, he added. Legault said details would be revealed, "in the coming weeks."

This is a dangerous precedence being set regardless of your feelings about the decidedly unvaccinated. Why stop here? If wereallywant to tax people who are burdening the healthcare system, then people over a certain BMI/BF percentage should pay an extra healthcare fee. Same with smokers. What about people who habitually use drugs? Maybe people that drink more than 5 alcoholic beverages per week should also pay more. All of these make more sense and would actuallylowerCOVID-related health issues.

Quebec is usually the testing grounds for the rest of Canada. Expect places like Australia and certain places in Europe to follow suit.

The politicians have realized omicron is the end of the pandemic and their irrational power grabbing will not gain traction after this wave. They're doing their best to accelerate their end goals.

Quebec needs to go. Funny how they call fining people for not taking a medical intervention a "tax to incentivize vaccination". They are slimeballs with their language. Slap the words tax and incentivization and it sounds less draconian than it really is. Sounds a lot better than coercing people to get a medical procedure done or else we take your money. Quebec has always been a breeding ground for extremist and repressive ways of thinking. Have to wonder what other of our freedoms are on the chopping block, to be sold out to authoritarians in their self-perceived quest for justice.

François Legault says unvaccinated people are financially burdening the health care system, and that they'll have to make a 'health care contribution.'
Did this kunt conveniently forget that it wasChinathat financially burdened the world's health care systems in the first place?

Now as the virus continues to evolve into being increasingly mild while the vaccines become less effective, the pharmaceutical companies have become the financial burdens with their subscription based model of boosters that will always be playing catch-up.

And a little reminder to Quebec:

Spoiler!
I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

Kind of an eye opener how every Socialist country, had the harshest lockdowns/restrictions, and now they're mandating vaccines/boosters, and punishing the unvaccinated.

So why push for this kind of system again?

As long as the vaccines are of good quality and proven safe in the long run then it should be fine.

First time jab appointments quadrupled after Quebec ALSO made vaccination mandatory to be able to buy liquor or weed.

https://sports.yahoo.com/vaccination...153028623.html

The balls to tax and all this when the majority of the population is going to be infected with mild Omicron, regardless of having the jabs or not. Supposedly their 10pm curfew is going to be lifted this coming Monday, but it wouldn't be surprising if they decide to prolong it at the last minute. This is what happens when you tell the state/provincial government to please be your parent.

Smokers do pay their sin tax with every pack. Health insurance should be allowed to have something like waist measurement included (exception pregnant and post partum women of course) for different rates.

No they don't. They just pay tax. You think $3,500/yr pays for even one major surgery or the week in hospital post? lmfao if you think the "tax per pack" even comes close to paying for their smoking. Do they pay for all the smoke they blow into everyone else face when they walk down the street smoking? Do you think even 10% of that tax money goes to the "healthcare" system? lmfao

Liberal's strategy across the board is to demonize the opposition and go after citizens.

Used to be that politicians go after the opposing politicians. Now, demonize conservatives and anyone who does not follow their ideological BS.

Don't underestimate how big of a joke our legal system is, the vast majority of judges are liberals appointed by liberals. They also have been interpreting the law for what *they* see as for the greater good rather than what the law actually states.

Then when they have unopposed power I guess their moronic voters think it won't be used against them because they're "on the same side." I honestly cannot believe how stupid first world citizens are. These Western authoritarians are here to stay, eventually they will win. Just hope to delay the inevitable as long as possible.
