We were the first to abolish slavery aswell if you didn't know about that. PLUS, the africans already were slaves (we didn't capture them, we bought them from other african tribes aswell). Black people started the slavery in africa. We bought them and took them to Brazil (and other colonies) to work, because we didn't have enough people. Brazilian natives liked us (apart from some savage tribes that were always trying to kill other tribe members and we had to defend them - Check Battle of Rio de Janeiro)

The reason we didn't conquer the world at that time (we were better than Spain and who was England!?) was the fact that we were only 1M so we couldn't populate the colonies. For example, we were the 1st ones to get to Australia, but we just got out of there and did nothing.

We had the strongest navy and the strongest economy. We had the best naval combat techniques. We had a world recognized treat dividing the world between us and Spain. We controlled the spice trade (equivalent to petrol nowadays). With only 1M people (much fewer soldiers) we were fighting in multiple fronts at the same time (Brazil agaisnt the natives and agaisnt the netherlands, agaisnt Spain, agaisnt Morocco, in the Indic agaisnt the Ottoman Epire, the veneceans, etc...) and we won it ALL!

US has nothing of this. Not the strongest army, not the strongest economy... nothing.

England probably (much later tho). But not spanish (probably bigger, but not stronger. We had the most important points controlled). Brazil was more important than every Spanish American territory. They had people, so they conquer the "rural areas". We didn't, so we controlled strategic (much harder) points. Check the Battle of Diu and you will probably understand. Those little territories in the African coast were harder than Brazil.

Those Spanish American territories were literally a piece of ****. Had no value at all. Just like Autralia or Canada (we reached Canada before England aswell). As important as Portuguese sea territory.

The US has been a superpower since late 1800s probably. It is 150 years. Literally nothing.

Portugal has 900 years as a nation (born in 1143). Spain is "younger". The history between the two countries is too complex to be judge by the size of their territory. A lot of things play a role in the "superpower" game. Army/Navy power, Economic power, Influence etc. When you take it all into consideration Portugal was the strongest superpower of the 15 and 16th (at least the first half) centuries. Then Spain and England took over.

If you study Portugal-Spain relationship/rivalry you gonna undertand that the Portuguese people were superior. We won the majority of battles against them with much fewer numbers (lets say 5 spanish soldiers to 1 portuguese soldier). Rumours say we sent Colombo to Spain so he could "distract" Spain and sail to America, and not India. Our history is brilliant.
