Anyone getting ruined by stocks and crypto?
I am receiving a hard and brutal pounding almost weekly for several months now. I keep buying the dip but i just keep compounding my losses. Most of my holdings are down -50% and more. This past year i have lost more than $100.000 and I am all in on high risk assets (mostly growth stocks, meme stocks and green energy/solar). I am not really keen on increasing my exposure to these assets, but at the same time i dont want to sell at these levels. I am fine with holding my stocks for a couple of year. I am interested in a global index fund. Is this a good idea? What is your strategy here?

I'm taking a pounding too. But not in a good way. I'm conservative and conventional with my investing. Just hold tight.

I'm down massive amounts in all asset classes from ATH's, but I'm not retiring anytime soon, so could not care less. Long as you're holding good investments, stop checking your daily +/- and just continue to contribute. You'll be happy you did in the years, especially decades, to come.

At the end of the day, it's just a gamble OP. That's why I've never gotten into it. I feel better about myself when I invest time into myself, and the returns are guaranteed. For example, if I help my Dad wire in a new addition at his house, I get paid $xxx.xx amount of dollars. If I help a buddy install a new exhaust in his truck, I get paid $xxx.xx amount of dollars. Guaranteed return on my investment into MYSELF. Not fukn stocks.
But if you're a gambler, these dips and volatility spikes are par for the course. Such is life for stockcells.

Speculative stuff, like low earning/high multi tech stocks, and, oh yeah, crypto, are going to get CRUSHED as rates rise. The big guys who own most of it are highly leveraged, that is, they have loans/lines of credit for their holdings. As rates go up, their rate of return on stuff gets obliterated. The banks get nervous, and call a lot of loans. Spec stuff gets liquidated, because why would they cave in their long term, rock solid, dividend/income paying stuff, when they can bank profits on the speculative stuff they helped pump and lol at the plebes that hang on to the bottom?
It all comes back. It can take a long time, and the suffering and doubt while waiting is real. Guys like Buffet, with big balls and big bank, buy on the way down while the panic cels are dumping. They can be patient and wait on returns.

I suggest you stop doubling down on speculation and just HODL index funds like the rest of us, OP. Staying diversified and not panic selling is the surest way to build wealth in the long-run. Stocks are literal gamble at this point. It used to be the stock price was based on earnings , going concern, rnd etc but now its become a meme. Not even taking AMC and Gamestop into account you can simply look at Tesla for example.
Should Tesla really be worth more than Ford or Wolksvagen ....really REALLY ... easy answer is **** no not even close

I have lost around 150k from a few holdings I have but that’s not even a fifth of what I bought them at. I sold a ton mid to late LY of stocks I purchased after the covid drop in early 2020.

This always happens - stocks go down and then bounce back up.
I guess that sometimes a market crash happens but that the nature of the beast, where 'something' always goes wrong.
Just 4 years ago eth was $1000 and then 3 years ago Eth was $80 or 90 dollars and then it went to 5k?

For each dollar made on crypto, there is a dollar lost. More lost to trade fees. And day trading stocks is almost as risky. So I bet there are some losers here.
I thought about buying Dogecoin last year at 34 cents. At its current low value, I would not expect to get that money back ever.
You stop making money when you hold.

Definitely painful to watch but just remember your long term goal. March 2020 felt 20x worse than this. Srs everyone though we were gonna die and international trade and supply chains would just disappear because flights were halted
Then stocks and crypto went on a huge run
No one really knows wtf is gonna happen. I just keep buying and DCA every 2 weeks into stocks/crypto.

RRSPs down 27K the last two weeks , and that’s not reflecting todays plummet . I knew this was imminent, and actually had a meeting with my financial advisor two days ago in anticipation.

I pulled out about a month or so ago and got trashed on this site about it.
A correction is happening. You can either pull out (and save future losses) or just keep it in their and let it ride.
