Showed The Girl I’m Seeing The Movie Drive

I showed this girl I’ve been seeing since New Year’s the film Drive starring Ryan Gosling. She didn’t like the film, tempted to cut her loose for missing the point of the movie and not appreciating the little details.

In all seriousness, does it ever bother you guys when you show a girl some of your favorite films and she either dislikes them or doesn’t get why you’d like them? For me being the movie guy that I am, it a girl doesn’t like several films in my top 10-15 that’s a little bit of a problem for me.

My ex and me disagreed on a lot of films, I tried to teach her to appreciate better films and to some degree I was successful. Now I am running into the same problem again. Seems there is a type of film that appeals to introverted guys that most girls don’t enjoy or relate to.

No I know exactly what you mean. I dated a girl years ago, showed her this one song I thought was fking phenomenal, she listens to it, says it's boring. I got heated real fast. It's one thing if she didn't hear what I heard, but to say it was boring was unforgivable, imo.

I'd rather she fell asleep than watch one of my favorite and not like it. Some people don't get subtleties. It's one thing if you're chatting, missing chunks of the movie, it's another when they don't get it. Not something to let her loose over, but call it a strike that can be erased later by something else.

I feel you 100% bro. Not just to my girl, but to anyone. I love psych thrillers but many people find them boring. Bugs me but what can you do. Not everyone will share your interests. Hope you’re making progress with the French girl you told me about last year.

She showed me a movie called Silver Linings which I thought was quite good, it’s not like she has bad taste in films. I think the issue is that I am the type of guy that likes these movies like Taxi Driver, Joker, Drive, Nightcrawler, Buffalo 66, etc. These are very specific types of films that appeal to very specific types of people I think. They aren’t for everyone I guess.

Female taste in music is usually a lot different than mens. She probably liked something more along the lines of Lana Del Rey.

Not long term material honestly. Imagine having to do this for years on end.

Regarding the movie, I agree, it’s soundtrack was phenomenal.

my ex didn't ''catch'' some of my favorite movies, I ****ing knew it was a red flag
I think it's fine not liking the same kind of movie, like if you're into Star Wars or any sci-fi, I really believe some people just don't like the genre.
But not understanding the subtlety of a movie is a different thing

Some people just really don't understand artistic direction at all srs. I've got some buds that have the most shallow taste in everything imaginable. If it ain't a top 40 hit of the day or the most linear, predictable super hero movie ever, they hate it.

Yes like for example she didn’t understand why Ryan Gosling’s character didn’t attempt to bang the girl in the film. She didn’t understand the personality type that Gosling and the writers were trying to display. He isn’t supposed to be a typical guy. He’s obviously ok with being alone and isn’t desperate for a single mom.

Lol overreacting and thinking your personality is based on a film. Films are just films to be enjoyed. If you think you're the main actor you're not.

We don't like half the sht they watch so why should we expect them to like the stuff we watch? If you want to date your bro go date your bro otherwise who cares its just another film that only you are attached to.

If she made an attempt to watch it then that's enough

Probably a cultural gap between tastes. Since you're a north african (sicilian) you have different tastes for cultural reasons. Where is she from, is she from north african descent like you? White people have different preferences compared to Sicilians and the rest of the north africans.

Actually she was into a lot of metal. Her favorite band was Wintersun. I showed her a song that has a somewhat similar sound, and she said it was boring. I dunno wtf her deal was

Wrong I’m half Sicilian/Southern Italian which are Europeans and half Irish, Scottish, French and German which are also Europeans. Your trolling is garbage.

The girl I am talking to is 25% black and 75% Swedish and Irish, she is mixed race. She looks Puerto Rican.
