Has anyone ever bought stuff from alibaba or Ali Express?

Was scrolling both these sites and chit I see for sale in retail stores locally for $20-$40 can be bought in bulk on these sites for literal pennies.

Tempted to buy a bunch of chit and flip it for $$$gains on ebay/etsy/fb marketplace

Seems like a decent side hustle... but wanted to check with you brahs to see if these sites are legit or if theres a catch.

I've been tempted multiple times but then always fear I get stuck sitting on a bunch of stuff I can't get rid of. You can always have them ship directly to Amazon FBA too but most items you'll find are already being sold by multiple sellers

I have. The only thing that made it worse than amazon was the shipping time. Cheap Chinese stuff is the same no matter where you buy it from. I didn't buy anything in bulk though so I can't speak on that

If you order clothes, you prolly want to go about 2-3 sizes up. Quality will be ****. Shipping will be some time in 2023, the way things are in China right now.

But it will be cheap.

have bought body armor thru ali (3a helmets, 3a vests and lvl 4 plates).

early on one "supplier" sent me a bunch of "vests" that seemed sus that turned out to be fakes. how did i find out...? because i shot up one of the vests & round went right fukn thru. thats why you never take their word for their stuff being level 3a/3/4.

so far a different supplier's 3a helmet has stood up pretty damn well. took 10 shots from a 45/.40/9mm/.380 and nothing pierced it. Still need to hit it with a 44 mag to make sure though.

Yeah my first Amazon FBA private label business used Alibaba to source. My supplier was a small manufacturer out of China. I worked with them to design accessories for a certain electronic device. Overall it was a pleasant process. They were easy to work with, accommodating (every reply was “yes dear” or “of course” with a smiley emoji) and the quality was surprisingly good. My only issue is that they tried to fuk me at the last minute by overcharging for shipping and they half assed an inspection, so I had way too many defective units that translated to poor reviews on Amazon. I was able to recover enough to stay profitable though.

I’d say go for it if you’re planning a side hustle, just know that innovation and branding is the winner these days. Just ordering in bulk and reselling is only viable in small niches. Too much competition.
