Lat Pulldown or Seated Cable Rows
Good morning. Today I plan on working out my back and hamstrings. I usually settle for the lat pulldown with a wide grip bar a long with a few sets of wide grip pull-ups. I woke up feeling like doing seated cable rows, but with the wide grip bar. I’ve heard some use pull-ups as an alternative to lat pull downs with cables rows included. Now I understand I can do both, but just to make the misc great again by posting workout threads I would rather here your current opinions. Thanks.

You really probably want to do both. I always do pulldowns after military and seated rows after bench because they correlate (vertical and horizontal, respectively), but if you only do back exercises once in a week, I'd do both.

both will target different (albeit overlapping) parts of the back, not to mention one is a vertical and one is a horizontal pull. not really a one or the other type of deal. however, if you absolutely could only pick one, just pick one to do for 8 weeks, then move on to other exercise. both are good.

If pronated grip (Pull-ups) is on your menu, then supinated grip (Chin-ups) or parallel grip (seated cable row) would be a great addition/variation.
Of course, Bent-over Barbell or One Hand Dumbbell Row would do too.
Good luck.

I like to alternate low rep lat pulls and then high rep rows on workout A and then next back day low rep rows and then high rep lat pulls for workout B.

I do both but I do workout my back more often than most but will alternate and have 2 leg days if possible, I will vary the weight from heavy sets low reps and the next time medium weight and higher reps or till failure. Seems to work well to shake it up and not let my body get used to the routine
