If I was a donor I’d ask for my money back.
I’d be very upset if my money wasn’t allocated to the specific cause I donated to.

How can they just legally steal the money like that? At the very least you refund it back. Sounds like they re-worded it in attempt to avoid legal trouble

I’m not sure what their status is, I’ve never used them before, but when I worked for a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization anytime someone asked for their money back, we had to give it to them.
Hope people go after them. That’s so wrong.

Most I ever made was $31k for the year (school for special needs).
As for the % of money, Most of the money went to program. We kept our overhead low, but at the same time we had to spend money for quality teachers. Most possessing credentials for special education as well as therapist like OT PT Speech.

Anyway, if a non-profit is making money there’s something wrong there. The goal is to break even. Non-profits have an annual report every year conducted by an outside auditor. You can request a copy from them to see where they’re spending their money.
Never give to a non-profit without doing your research first.
