Currently renting in Austin tx and the rent is expensive as fuk. People paying upwards of $150-200/night for 1 bdrm on Airbnb. Very tempted to put my 1 bd/bth unit on Airbnb while I am away.

It's risky cus if I get caught my apt will most likely fuk me but damn I stand to make several months of rent if I can pull it off.

More advice: It can take serious money to prep your place for airbnb. Lots of bases to cover. I was surprised when I first started. Hmu with any questions srs.

You'd likely get away with it. It depends if your neighbors notice, rat you out, or the person you're Airbnb to is a POS and makes a lot of noise or parties. As soon as someone sees or hears luggage going down a hallway a few times, you could be fuked. My cousin use to put his house on there, but one party fuked everything up, because then his place wasn't ready for the next guest while he was away.

As a former property manager intern, I'd get complaints about this often from other tenants. In the end we didn't really do anything about it other than telling them they have to stop, but it's a huge liability because you're letting complete strangers and whomever they bring with them into a secured building where rent paying tenants with background checks are working/sleeping and being considerate. Airbnb terms are likely in your lease as well and even if you get away with it, it's not really worth it in my opinion.

If you're that desperate for money, you likely need to come up with something better, more concrete, less risky.
