The public delusion that they are watching pure sport-the power of cognitive dissonance has always been quite remarkable. No matter how many failed tests, state sponsored doping to where women look & are built like men, ridiculous bodies, back acne, coaches like Salazar etc they like to boo the villains who get caught & carry on watching the rest with just as big if not bigger bodies & impossible times, distances thrown etc & even though they know most are doping they pretend they aren't. It is like in Japan-the mafia run sports, the public know it, the media know it etc-but they pretend they don't & when the scandal breaks they act shocked.

I love how people's response to rule-breakers is that there just shouldn't be rules.

Yeah, I get it, tons of people are doping - many not getting caught. But to throw your hands up and declare we just shouldn't have an enforced standard demonstrates a complete lack of honor or integrity.

Yes, that's exactly why there are no speed limits in races lmao. You explained it to yourself. GJDM.

Olympics is like a 100 mile race where you are not allowed to go faster than 100mph/hour (bannable offense) yet qualifying time is 50-55 minutes to even participate. And no brainlet bats an eye. Then they pick brahs based on political and corruption algo to test and potentially pop.

I think I know where you are getting lost. You see, Olympics is a logical fallacy in itself.

Rule 1: Distance is 100 miles. You are never allowed to go faster than 100mph.
Rule 2: To qualify to compete in this glorious race, the slowest you can come in is 55 minutes.

The rule #2 overrides rule #1. If you respect rule #1, you simply cannot ever qualify for the race. If you respect rule #2, you WILL need to go faster than 100mph at some point. As of right now testing is 100% political tool like I said or a bitch slap because you didn't get your sweet kickback or your daddy didn't get that sweet steel contract renewed.

Even if you gutted everyone out and started all over after coming up with perfect doping test, the new record setters would be the ones that PED to the gills for n years and then trying to maintain until the event. That will be the new cheating.

And I get what you're saying, trust me, I'm not obtusely denying the reality of that. I still think it's dishonorable to just hang the rules and have no standards. Like I was trying to demonstrate with my speed limit analogy of the usefulness of the rules - it at least keeps the baseline within a margin. I'd rather watch the sports we have now than a version where everyone is forced to be roided to the gills to even compete. You'd probably lose a lot of talented athletes who aren't willing to do that to themselves and be left with only the ones who are - which is probably a Venn diagram of gifted, electric, athletes versus roided capable athletes with a much smaller overlap.
