My 17-year-old pupper passed away today :(

I had her since I was 16, really helped me through the hardest, most lonely times of my life. Loved me unconditionally... only dog I've ever known that would hug you as a human would. I'm happy she didn't suffer and passed in the arms of those who loved her.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet pupper.Sounds like she had a super long and amazing life with you. She'll be waiting at the bridge for you. Not sure if you know the Rainbow Bridge poem but it always brings me comfort when I lose a beloved pet. I put it in spoilers in case you're not ready to read it yet.

Spoiler!
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Beautiful girl....we lost our 14 year old boy who was my life to kidney failure. It's been the most devastating thing I've gone through. He was always by my side. Will hug our pups extra for your girl.

Long life full of love it sounds like, I know it sucks but I wish you the best.
I dread the day my dog passes, she's been with me since I came back from Afghanistan in 2014 and got out of the Marines and I don't know what I'm going to do without her. My girl and I recently got a cat which has become her best friend and I think will help her live longer because she's much more active and happy now it seems.

Fuk brah. My dog died April Fool’s Day 2020 right when the covid BS was starting to kick off. Went from completely normal and healthy to dead within 3 months. I don’t actually remember what was wrong with her, but she went downhill so fast. Once she started collapsing and having seizures, the end was near. One night she collapsed and couldn’t get up. The next day she was put down. Never seen a human so distraught as I saw my parents. The grief was almost unspeakable. I was suffering too but managed to maintain some degree of composure.

Last night I went on a night walk to the area where I used to walk her all the time. Felt surreal. It’s like I was reminded of another life I used to have. Things will never be the same again. But it does get easier. Time heals.
