Starting the party a little early, pre-order is locked and loaded, cannot wait for this one.

I've played every Souls game and have the Bloodborne Platinum trophy. Some of the best games ever in my opinion.

This is gonna be a long playthrough for me, aiming for a full clear my first time thru. I'm sure there are some bros here who will rip thru this faster than me, but at least there's no way I'll take as long as Muzzlrpress.

What class you bros rolling?

Never played a souls game except Bloodborne and can't make it past the first 20 minutes of that game. But wanna try this one..I love watching people play them on YouTube and love Joseph Anderson and superbunnyhops analysis of those games and their level dragon

Remaster is excellent. I played a bit of DS years ago (rented it, lol) and went back and played the remaster after Bloodborne got it's hooks in me. It absolutely holds up and fixes the few issues with the original like Blighttown.

The opening 20 minutes of BB is the most hilarious difficulty wall in any video game.

Here's one enemy who doesn't see you.
Here's an enemy who does see you.
Here's two enemies, one of whom doesnt see you.
Here's 35 dudes in a street and 5 of them are sneaking up behind you and there's dogs oh and four of the guys have guns, good luck fukker.

That section took me two nights. Then something clicked and the rest of the game was hard but fair. You'll probably have something similar in Elden Ring, don't give up bro at some point you will lock into the game's rhythm, and enjoy one of the best experiences in gaming.

Did a review prediction range for Forbidden West and pretty much hit it right in the center. Gotta be a range of Five (did six for Forbidden West though)

I predict an opencritic score of 89-93.

In on this crew but I won't be playing it until after Horizon 2 I think. Horizon is the game that made me want the PS5 so I have to play that first.

Bloodborne was also one of my top exclusives so I get to play Elden Ring right after.

This is gonna be my GOAT of all time gaming year. It only goes down from this boys. I'll see you on the other side

Will be a game changer if it's as open as they're saying.

It's hard to be excited to play when you're in a linear section of a souls game and the only way forward is thru the hard bastard who's been destroying you for an hour. But the thrill of victory is that much better, when you finally figure them out and beat them. Some of the best fights in gaming.

Are these games as hard as they say? Doesn't sound fun to me to get murked by random trash mobs and have to spend weeks learning how to kill 1 boss.

No. They are not really THAT hard but it depends entirely on you and your ability to git gud. Bloodborne was my first and the “first” boss made me quit the game for months. Eventually I tried again and it all clicked and I got the platinum. You just have to get used to the timing of when to dodge/roll, attack, block, etc. Once you do, the difficult overall drops dramatically. That said, you will still get your chit pushed in on occasion.

Confessor gang here. I'm gonna annihilate the lands between with a sword and holy magic

The first area of Bloodborne is absolutely brutal. I'd played 3 souls games before it and it still took me like 5 hours and 100 deaths to clear the first area and only about 5 or 6 of those deaths were to the boss. Once you get past that the main game gets a lot easier

This. The games have a different rhythm and pace of battle you have to learn. Once that clicks they are tough but fair, with some extremely challenging optional content for those who want it.

You'll rarely die because of the game pulling cheap bs - you almost always know what you did wrong and what you need to get better at. They ask a lot from you but they're challenging in the best sort of way.

See post #4. Punk rock as fukk opening to a video game, absolutely in your face difficulty wall lmao.

Should I try confessor? I did a pyro in DS3 and really liked that. Leaning towards a spell sword type thing or maybe samurai since bows are good now.

Was gonna wait till the preload is available but fuk it, just preordered. With equip load being tied to strength this time, I’m definitely starting as a strength build. My first character is usually quality though so I’ll probably transition to that later.

That's actually changed from the CNT. Equip load is tied to endurance like it was in DS1

I'm not sure honestly lol. If I didn't always do a paladin build on my first run I'd probably go prisoner since gravity and blood magic both look so badass plus the prisoner looks almost exactly like a certain Berserk character who never did anything wrong

I've been avoiding as much as I could with the game because I don't want to be spoiled. Have seen short clips but no fights. I know there will be tons of builds and movesets to customize but I wanna go a mage build brahs. Is that viable in this game?

Edit: oh chite samurai sounds badass too

You're gonna die many times and it will be frustrating. Especially since you're new. Stick to it, learn the attacks of your enemies, learn how to dodge and when to find your openings. This is going to be the first open world one so it's gonna be crazy since in the previous entries you had to pay close attention to your environments and like was said earlier, if you get buttfukt by some enemies you had to keep trying till you get past. Being open world, I suspect it will be more forgiving as you may be able to reset, and go do something else until you're ready for the fight again.

But you'll still die.... Alot. Don't give up, finally defeating that boss or mini boss is one of the most satisfying feelings.

I'm thinking either Prisoner or Bandit for my build. I wonder what would be the specialty of the two?

Going quality or dex my first run. Can’t wait to try all boss speed runs after and what the times are going to look like.

From what I saw in the CNT magic looks pretty strong. I don’t remember if the weapon sets scale off of magic stats but some of the magic arts were OP.

Sounds fun honestly, I haven't played a difficult game like that since Ninja Gaiden 2. Sounds like it's sort of similar?

A couple of guys on discord told me to not watch any dark souls or pick one up and to go into elden ring a virgin, been contemplating grabbing one to play over the next couple of weeks though.

Want to do some sort of mage build so either enchanted knight or prophet.

BTW - I only have two more bosses left in bloodborne - the abhorrent beast (headless with the worm) and the final queen. Beat the defiled chalice over the weekend. Feelsgoodman.

Nice!! You've already beat the hardest boss in that chalice which is the shotel thrower. The final queen is more of an endurance fight than anything. She doesn't hit that hard but has a metric fuk ton of HP

The best battlemage starting class will probably be the prisoner or confessor depending on if you wanna go sorcery or incantations

They are nowhere near as hard as the Ninja Gaiden games. Dark souls isn't hard because you have to have godlike reaction time to beat them they're hard because they force you to pay attention, learn movesets and not get greedy when dealing damage

The ashes of war (weapon arts) in this game will control what the weapon scales off of. For example you could add a magic scaling ash of war to a greatsword and afterwards the sword would only scale off int instead of having to do infusions like the prior games
