Just did 2021 taxes, grossed $110k.
Assuming I do the same amount of overtime in 2022 I should be grossing $120k. $10k difference, which after taxes and 401(k) is like $6500-7000 more. Call it $6000 in case I'm a little off or do less overtime.
Rent is gonna be going up $200-300/mo if I stay in the same place. Call it $250/mo. Per year that's like $3000. So basically half of my post-tax gains for 2022 are immediately gone due to rent hike, unless I move somewhere else. Then you got other things going up in price at the grocery store and restaurants, tbh I wouldn't be surprised if I realistically make less in 2022 versus 2021 despite a $10k gross increase.

I got a small raise but it wasn't more than the inflation rate right now, no. Luckily my personal inflation rate is very low, I own my house at 2.75% interest and I've cut restaurant visits from 2-3 times a week to once a week because I can't justify $90 for 2 regular entrees, an appetizer for the kid and a couple beers. Also work from home so incredibly small gas budget. The wife drives to work but uses our 2013 corolla and her job gives her mileage reimbursement as long as she fills out the online form when she gets home.
Unfortunately for most people they don't have these kinds of options. Can't imagine what it would be like as a dual income household making the national average where both parents have to commute to work daily. Guess your 'fun budget' goes from slim to zero. Sounds fun, bet that will buy lots of votes, but I wonder if the giveaway/leach class votes can make up for that.

Had to threaten to quit to get a raise, but I'm at +25K compared to 2021, covers inflation.
Lost 50k and my house to divorce but inherited a small 7 acre farm from my grandparents so its a wash I guess.

Got a 5.5% raise. I interviewed for an internal position, basically my boss' previous role since he got promoted.
I think I have a good chance because I interviewed well. I talked to the director longer than the allotted time and my boss is the hiring manager.
They have to realize that if I don't get promoted soon that I will look elsewhere. It's hard not to entertain other roles when I get hit up on LinkedIn weekly and there is a shortage of talent in my industry.
Can't let this inflation **** me up.

My income for 2021 was probably like $300k, but it should have been around $475,000 due to a commission check that I actually pushed to 2022. My income this year will likely be something like $400,000, but with interest rates going up I wouldn't be surprised if things get very slow in the next couple months.

Got a 12% raise and the yearly 3% raise on top of that. My bonus will be more (percentage of salary) but I wont know/get that till the end of March.
Made money on a few side gigs that was all cash...in the neighborhood of 5-6k.....but I also dropped $8k on and into a project car.
Mortgage stays the same and the house has appreciated by about $65k since we bought it in 2020....but property taxes went up about 42%.
No car payment, but gas costs more, but I work from home so I drive WAY less.
With this last raise, it put me in a higher tax bracket so that's fun.

I’m more broke than I’ve been since before the pandemic. Biden’s inflation has effectively undone 4 years of my measly wage growth.
My annual salaries over the years.
2014-2016: ~$20k/yr retail
2016-2018: ~$28k/yr sales but fluctuated (commission based)
2018-2020: ~$30k/yr officel
2020-present: ~$35k/yr officel (same job)
Also got a 2.9% raise at the beginning of this year after staying with my company throughout the entire pandemic. They kissed my ass during the review about how great of a worker I am and how valuable I’ve been. The yearly increase in compensation works out to be less than $900 after taxes ded fkin srs. Don’t worry, I put in a fraction of the effort now. Gotta match what I’m given.
I’m crushing it huh? Lmfao.

That's the root of your problem. A company isn't going to pay you more for no reason and then expect you to do more cause they're paying you more....it's the other way around man. And I'm sure there's a range for your position. Look around you....if there's no opportunity for growth in the company you're with or you are legit working hard and it's going unrewarded...it's time to move on. If not and you're ok with where you are and your level or responsibility you just think you should be paid more for it, well that's not going to happen.

Stuff costs about 30 percent more vs last year
Tax brackets haven’t changed much, marginal taxation is about 50 percent.
So you’d need a 60% pay increase in to have 30 percent more take home
Not many people got 60 percent pay raises I would assume

Mirin everyone focusing on their CoL in these inflated times.
If I go to Chipotle and get my usual double chicken bowl with a large fountain drink (diet coke / unsweet tea), that's $15. FIFTEEN DOLLARS for less than 900 Cals and a drink.
Instead if I cook 8 eggs, 3 cheese slices, a half cup of milk, and some frozen vegetables, it ends up being less than $5, barely over $4, and is probably healthier too. Drink some filtered water instead of soda too for better health.

2.9% raise
They’re still fighting for 5%, but either way, not keeping up.

Switched jobs, pay bump of about 60%, more if I get a bonus, WFH, but long commute if I go in. Refinanced and reduced mortgage interest rate by 1.5%. RE tax is likely going up due to new valuation.
I'll have to check budget, should be spending less, but with gas costs going up, my heat bill went up slightly.
Feeling blessed overall.
