Dozens of students walked out of classes midday Monday at the University of Nevada, Reno and marched to the campus’s quad to protest the repeal of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) mask mandate.

The protest was organized by members of the Nevada Graduate Student Workers, a UNR-based collective of graduate assistants who work and attend classes on campus.

“I feel incredibly unsafe,” said Emily Bird, a graduate student instructor at UNR. “There are all these people on campus now who are not wearing masks who could possibly be spreading COVID and that is additionally compounded by the fact that we took away our vaccination requirement."

It's amazing how much they love covid. To them it's the same as if freedom of religious expression was allowed on campus, they're zealots who demand adherence to their religion

Much like with everything humans get into, it eventually becomes tribal and they dig themselves ever so deeper in their dogmatic outlook.

A weak, effete, anemic individual with a complete absence of critical thinking and no discernible backbone who's been preaching to friends and family for 2 years about 'masking up' and 'staying safe' and how covid is fuking deadly and we're all about to die and it's the apocalypse, basically repeating all of those talking points from their tribe - do you really think they'll now go against that? Fuk no. They'll dig themselves deeper into their belief and plant their heels in firmly because of pride and ego - other wonderful human traits.

It's the equivalent of children arguing about what their favorite band is. If you claim you hate your friend's favorite band, hear a tune on the radio and think 'hey this isn't bad,' then the DJ says "hey that was the new song from the band your friend loves and you hate!" what do you think you'll do? Oh I guess I was wrong, they're not so bad after all. Fuk no. Pride. Ego. Stubbornness kick in. "fuk that band sucks! that song really sucks!"

Case in point: human beings are a hopeless, tribal species. Nothing will ever change.
