Dude revving his diesel behind me at the pump earlier. Did I bitch out?

Leaving DFW after spending the weekend and stopped outside town on the way home. I’m in company truck with my wife, soon to be 4 year old daughter and my 12 year old stepson. Pull into HEB to gas up and all the pumps are full but the car at the very first one is leaving. Pull in and start filling. About 3/4 full an old **** can 3rd gen Cummins pulls in behind me and at some point revs up. I look and pump is still filling. About 15 secs later it clicks and I get out and hang up nozzle, glance towards the truck behind me, and finish closing cap and getting in truck. At that point he revs again.

Now at this point I’m thinking he’s a scumbag, and circle the pumps to the exit which means I have to pass right behind his truck again. He never got out of his truck until I was at the service road about to pull out. His windows were limo tinted, even the front windshield. So never got to see his face or whatever actions he may have been displaying inside truck. He also had his tow mirrors fully extended and no tailgate. A complete dip**** of a truck.

For the past 30 minutes all I can think about is whether or not I should have flipped him off or walked over to his truck. My thinking is I probably did the best thing by avoiding any issue since I had my family with me, this is my first week in this truck and new job clearing mid six figures while this guy seems to be the ******* who is dead or in prison within 5 years. Not worth getting killed, going to jail, or losing my new job over. Never can tell nowadays how someone might be trigger happy or a piece of **** with nothing to lose.

On the other hand I feel like I bitched out but common sense says I played it smart. Let me have it Misc, in my situation what would you have done?

Blood has been boiling at the fact he stayed in his truck until I left the lot. If I was alone and in my personal vehicle I feel like I definitely would have flipped this guy off.

Edit: I noticed when I made the loop around the pumps that the only diesel nozzle I saw was at my pump. So maybe he felt like I wasn’t being considerate of diesels, but what the fukk, it was the only one available when I pulled in and I was there first. Don’t think that justifies his fit

He was probably upset because his HTC wife severely clogged his toilet with a colossal mahogany fart cobra after going too far at chipotle during lunch and he was fresh off four straight hours of unsuccessful yet still aggressive plungering with his Pabst tshirt pulled up over his nose

If I was in your situation I wouldn't have thought for longer than two seconds about this. Jfc what is going through your head? You had little Tyrone in the backseat and you could've gotten him killed!

you thought he was revving in an effort to communicate to you to hurry up?

I would have cucked him and spent the next 5 minutes there.

Take out your cell phone and start yammering pretending youre talking on it. If he says anything say "sorry chief this is an important call, i had to take it trying to close a deal here so need you to be quiet boss"

I once had some crazy lady in some old Chevy doing that and yelling when I was pumping some gas somewhere in LA, but I didn't want to mess with her as she had some "boys" with her and they all looked like meth addicts high out of their mind.

this

you are right OP, there is no point in getting into a verbal altercation which could quickly become physical with this type, especially with your family there. you shoulda cucked him by making him wait.

Not sure if srs, how can it not? Some fukk in a tinted lifted diesel revving his engine clearly at you while you mind your own business pumping gas. At the very least you’re going to look his direction and wonder wtf

Wut?

You’re over thinking it.

He may have been doing anything. If you weren’t taking a nap in the fuel isle or something then fuk him lol. I’m super chill with my family around but even if I were alone I wouldn’t have thought twice about some weirdo reviving his motor.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

yeah you never know what's actually going on - you just think you do by projecting.

OP do you rev your engine to assert your authority over others on the road?

You sound like the beta ****g*ts at the gym who rage when somebody flexes into the mirror or takes a célfie.

I wouldn’t ever be clearly waiting behind somebody at the pump revving my engine.

It’s possible, Misc is right, that he was doing anything but idk man, seemed pretty pointed and direct. No other reason than that maybe he felt I was inconsiderate taking up the only pump with a diesel nozzle. But even then I think he’s throwing a fit.

You can usually tell by the vehicle and as I said, tow mirrors extended, limo tint all around, no tail gate. 35 inch tires. The truck looked like a douche on wheels

Edit: reps all around

Yea maybe it’s just a Texas thing but diesel drivers get pretty pissy about using the only pump they have to get gas.

You're reading way too much into the situation IMO. I wouldn't even have looked at some random revving. How come insignificant things like this bother you so much?

So what were you going to do if it was directed at you?

Flip him off or look his direction, shake my head and laugh

Either one would have likely happened had I not been in a company vehicle w/ my family dead srs

Either he is already pissed and it escalates or he asks what the fukk my problem was innocently at which point I can say no worries I thought you were revving your truck at me

The point is did I bitch out or do the smart thing

That’s the thing, even if he did it more than twice that I caught, I wasn’t paying any attention. It’s the fact that it kept happening and especially when it was clear that I was outside at the pump only 10 foot away when it felt personal
