Starship Troopers is a great movie on violence, war, militarism and facism.

Just noticed the dress uniforms that they wear are Nazi uniforms.

In the beginning of the movie, Denise Richards says her mom told her violence was bad but the teacher tells why violence is the solution to all problems.

I agree it's a really underrated movie, and has some dark humor in it as well.

I remember watching it for the first time when I was like 13, and didn't really understand the movie just thought it was really gory.

Fast forward, and I re-watched it about 10 years later, and realized how the dialogue is brilliant. The propaganda is funny too.

Well, their enemies were giant, man-eating bugs so you can forgive them for militarizing societies in order to fight against the dangerous menace.

one of my favorites, easily top-5 of all-time material imo

read the book as well, movie > book in this case

Paul Verhoeven made some absolute sci-fi classics (Starship Troopers, Robocop, Total Recall)

I like how it pretty much feels like the bugs are going to win in the long haul.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
