Blues artists had a seminal & profound influence over country music. Some white artist was mentored by a black bluesman and really ran with it...gave us what is considered traditional country music today. Cant think of his name though.




You've heard the cover of the above in a car commercial probably ...below.





EDIT: remembered it ........... JIMMY RODGERS. obvsly hear the blues influence.

I don't remember the names of the songs, but can remember well driving with my grandfather to his fish spot high up in the mountains and listing to old country music and whole drive, which was probably 2 hours. I came to enjoy the music though at first it struck me poorly.

The blues has very little influence on traditional country and blues itself came from blacks hearing whites playing celtic/folk/classical music from Europe. After all who handed them guitars? African traditional music is very simple and almost completely percussion based.

It's uses Western music scales and is basically a modified snare drum though.
