To force us off of fossil fuels into more fuel efficient vehicles and EVs.

But really that is just how he increased taxes on the poor and middle class. All the while telling the dumb and poor he was only raising taxes on the 1%.

It was a pipeline of Canadian Oil through the US bound for the Gulf of Mexico to be shipped to China. The US would never see a drop of that oil unless someone blew it up near a US population center which is a real scenario.

It's an open secret that Russia has been funding environmental groups for decades, with their targets being significant energy infrastructure in the west.

Europe has more recoverable shale than the US. Conveniently they banned fracking, so they could stay completely dependent on Russia.

Keystone was just another target for Russian interference.

What if the pipeline had a diverter to a Texas refinery? The USA has the option to keep the oil or ship it?

I might vote yes on that.

We still make money for the land lease, and now it will still go to china, but through truckers (lol) using far more gas and being way less green, so they're really causing more pollution by taking away cheap and efficient transport. Not to mention the jobs it created.

Imagine being a rancher with a couple thousand acres of grazing. Government comes in and says
"we're gonna put a pipeline through your land in order to ship Canadian oil to China."

THE FUK YOU ARE.

Now if that oil was headed to a Texas refinery for domestic use, it's a whole different scenario.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

The pipe is underground though.

There were underground electric and gas lines on my property in the country and it had zero effect on anything I did. I do think the argument against eminent domain is legit though.

You argument about exportation of oil is silly. Firstly because only some of the oil would be exported, much would also stay in the US. Secondly, if the US has infrastructure to export large amounts of oil then the US has the ability to produce oil. If no infrastructure is built then when the US does need to make its own oil it is at a huge disadvantage and will be unable to do so.

To put another way. If I went to buy a fire extinguisher at Lowes and you were the salesman it would go like this.

Me: Hello, I would like to purchase fire extinguisher.
Bando: Is your house currently on fire?
Me: no
Bando: Then you don't need it as it would have no benefit to you right this second.

This is a poor example though because exporting oil does benefit the US by making money while a fire extinguisher does not make money.

Politicians give money to poor people and tell them everything to say, do, think, and feel when they send their children to public schools which is most of the country.

Planned product cycles are then used to control the people -- domestic, imported, entertainment, etc.

People are then used to push a narrative which let's them take advantage of democratic polls (weaponize pain and guilt of the peasant class), so it makes the politicians appear to be saviors.

They elected a guy with a religious name, so they can all claim to be the mostest and bestest Americans ever ever!

Because Warren Buffet owns the railroads that transport the oil being pumped from bakken shale.

The pipeline would be way more efficient, but that would cut out a HUGE portion of the profits on the railroad.

Reality is that we don’t even need the pipeline at this point, the world hasn’t been investing much into new oil production and Alberta will be fine with current pipeline capacity + TransMountain. If we do end up increasing production now, we’ll have some time to figure things out before capacity is badly strained.

Source: I work in O&G and also worked on the Canadian side of Keystone XL

Current oil prices are a symptom of the reason Keystone XL isn’t needed right now: there hasn’t been enough money put into oil production

I can name you 50 ranchers that did exactly that. Oil aside there were lots of benefits to having pipelines come through, mainly the jobs and the ridiculous amount of money added to the local economies. Ranchers and farmers benefit the most from cheap fuel and therefore support the oil industry. This year alone my operating costs are going to jump between $75,000 to $100,000 with the increase in fuel costs. I guarantee I won’t see that much of a jump in markets for my product but I will guarantee you all see a hell of a jump in costs at the supermarket. Green energy eco terrorists should all be deported.

Also in terms of global oil benchmarks, more production to anywhere in the world is important and and it’s not just about where one pipeline leads. O&G is much more nuanced than the benchmarks, but more supply to China = more global supply = lower benchmarks and better prices for consumers

Limiting any production and transport increases prices

Help me understand how having a pipeline through your property to move Canadian Oil to China results in cheaper fuel for you?

The REAL reason Democrats oppose the Keystone XL is that they want oil to get more expensive to hasten the adoption of solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources. Scientists predict we are at least 100 years from having the ability to reduce our dependence on oil.

The higher environmental and economic costs will result in higher oil prices that benefit countries like Russia, Iran, and Venezuela - by preventing the expansion of the Keystone the American people are basically funding their enemies.

The risks of environmental devastation are increased exponentially when you carry oil on our highways and through densely populated cities. Each year there are 500,000 trucking accidents in the US.

Without the added capacity the oil will be loaded onto tanker trucks and transferred to rail for its journey to the refineries on the Gulf Coast. This will increase the cost consumers pay for gasoline and emit more than a million tons of CO2 each year.

Oil production in Alberta will double in the next decade and the current pipeline is at full capacity. The plan was to add an additional pipeline next to Keystone called Keystone XL increasing capacity by an additional 830,000 barrels of oil each day

Fair enough.

But stop saying the XL oil was headed to the US and gas prices are high because Sleepy Joe shut it down.

If Biden wanted or even cared about low gas prices for the US he would not have cancelled all those drilling leases.
