Inflation Won’t End Soon
Some Fed presidents where talking 8 rate hikes over the year but since Ukraine can’t honor their deal with Russia these rate hikes won’t happen. The Fed may hike rates .25% but that’s really nothing. If they did do major hikes then we as the consumer wouldn’t really see anything different until at least the Fall (it takes time to go through the economic pipeline).
We will probably see $120/barrel oil and bigger hikes in meat prices and energy (electric)
I have literally bought nothing since prices have gone up. It’s going to be a complete chit show for a while. Once the rates go back up we will have a crippling recession/depression.
Tours close to over for a bit.

Why do you think this war was orchestrated? lol.
The Fed needed another crisis to keep rates low.
You think this was coincidence right after Covid lost its steam?

Russia/Ukraine tensions have always been high so this is nothing new but the timing shows that he can take over Ukraine for his pipelines, then he doesn’t have to deal with them anymore.
He also knows that the EU and America won’t jump in as it will officially be WW3 and really NO country can afford that.
Putin is honestly playing 4D Chess

2% interest in a 20% inflation world is just pissing on a wildfire. It's still massively advantageous to borrow all the cash you can and let inflation burn it away (eg Blackrock whaling out on the housing market).
My only hope is that zombie companies and national govts are so jacked to the tits on debt that even 2% interest is high enough to choke off their cash flow and kill them. This is kind of what's happening in China right now... the Chinese govt tightened credit to try and deflate a property bubble, and it turns out way more of their property developers like Evergrande were underwater than they thought. Keep an eye on that... that one will be interesting. Anyway, in this thesis, we get a massive 40% crash by Christmas 2023.
If itdoesn'tcrash, then inflation is just going to run away and eat us up. Eventually that market will burn itself out, as $200/bbl oil and $20 Big Mac meals leave Ameribrahs so broke they can't afford any consumer spending. They'll just have a rented room and instant noodles and live like a 3rd worlder, so car sales and golf club sales and all that fun chit just get shredded. But we will be in a world of chit for years before it corrects.

I have a chart for that.

The deficit was under $1 Trillion when I was born. Didn't pass the $1 Trillion mark until Reagan in 1981. When my daughter was born in '05 we were around $6 Trillion.
Now, less than 2 decades later, we have gone from $6 Trillion to $30 Trillion.
I considered making an actual "doom scolling with katya" thread last night.

Commentary that explains it pretty well:

What if they ditch the "currency issued as debt" model and move to straight up vouchers that can be exchanged for goods and services + good boy points?

Crushing feeling boyos. Sometimes feel I was born too late. Didn’t quite make it in time for the great reset (was 23 when covid hit and the govt shuttered the economy). Now feels like I’ll never make it.

They are talking about a digital identity and tracking everything about you...srs everything...browser history, physical location, employment, social media posts, medical records...everything.
The ESG score is this system for companies. Companies that step outside of the script will be punished by lower stock values and generally worse access to credit. Maybe even regulatory actions.
Heard a good argument that this is already in full swing and that it explains the depth and breadth of the sanctions against Russia which are being embraced by parties that have long been known to be neutral [Swiss banks] or would normally be expected to seek profits regardless of official sanctions [no movement of Russian oil because insurers [$$ finance] will not insure these ships].

Sanctions against Russia is no big deal. Money talks over political will. This is why the US and EU haven’t sent troops.
What we don’t want is a communist China social credit score. This is basically what social media is and it’s toxic for everyone but most people are ignorant normies that have no clue how anything works, they will do what they are told.
A digital currency system would be a disaster. Imagine not being able to get your paycheck because of who you voted for or that you believe in god.

You drive a big vehicle that uses a lot of fuel? Ding to your social credit score. Bad boy, no meat for you, you have already used all of your carbon credit driving to the supermarket.
