LA bros, gtfih (travel advice)

Visiting LA for 5 nights then up to Vegas for 5 nights

Where should me and two guys stay? Mostly interested in night life. Some tourist sh*t as well, not concerned with being close to beach, this ain’t a beach holiday.
I’m being told to avoid down town and stay West Hollywood???

Me and my two mates, (all brits) are more into semi busy bars rather than packed night clubs

Dress codes? Are women aproachable if you’re polite, clean, good shape and above average looking like my friends are.

Thought it’s not a priority what is the best beach?

How much does the average night out run you guys?

Do you recommend renting a car?

We are coming end of may and driving to Vegas beginning June

Air bnb a nice apartment or stay in a hotel?

Any advice greatly appreciated

I always stayed at the Rodeway Inn Sunset across from Hollywood High School. But you could do better...And I would rent a car for sure.

West Hollywood, Mid Wilshire, Culver City, Compton, Venice, Santa Monica and the South West side of downtown LA are good spots.

Definitely recommend a car

Santa Monica, Downtown LA, West Hollywood (Major gay area, but tons of straight women everywhere)

Although it isnt a beach trip the beach cities have a fuggin great nightlife.

100% get a car

There are lots of nice hotels, I would get one instead of an air bnb

Huntington Beach is very nice, so is Malibu.

Is it feasible if you’re staying in for example West Hollywood, to have a night out in one of the beach towns and taxi back at the end of the night or is it very far?

Thanks everyone, all advice considered and appreciated

Ride share is doable but renting a car would be best if you want to check out all the tourist spots like Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios and City Walk. It's just more convenient and faster.

If by chance you want to do the beach, I personally like to hang out down at Hermosa beach. It's a much smaller than the typical LA one but less crowed and less touristy. I find girls to be easily approachable.

Santa Monica is another spot if you want something of a bigger scene with tons of spots to eat and drink. Kick in on the pier hit up 3rd Street Promenade/4th Street area and a bit south of on Main Street in there is a lot of places too. It's not far from West Hollywood if you end up staying there (just head west on Santa Monica BLVD).

Drink prices vary, I've spent as low as $7 to high of $15 for cocktails. Beer is probably $6.

LA has some good breweries. One of my favorite is Firestone Walker in Marina Del Rey, not far from LAX if you want a spot to stop to eat/drink after your flight but there are many to choose from.
