Random things I’ve rescued over the years.
Baby Dill. The Leprosy I caught was worth it because he was soooo cute and cuddly. Him and his family were attacked while walking through my neighbors back yard. I heard a wild cacophony of barking, snarling, growling and commotion…I could tell something was up. I didn’t know if they were attacking each other or someone. I ran over and into chaos, it was like a scene from a horror movie. They were unmercifully ripping Dill’s family to shreds. I tried to stop them but things were just too far gone. I saw little Dill trying to escape, so I scooped him up and took it with me. Animal control picked him the next morning

Hank. He was almost crushed by a bush hog-I think. He was in really bad shape and some of his shell had fallen off. I called my vet and found out they are partners with an organization called “Wild at Heart” that rescues wild animals, so all I had to do was bring him up there, drop him off and they took care of the rest.

I was able to get update on him.

PePaw. This little guy managed to get out of his house when his owner was leaving for a vacation. He had friends coming over to check on his dogs, they didn’t notice PePaw was missing for several days. I found him a few hours after his owner left, he was meandering around a wooded area, I assumed he was dropped off. He was so old and crusty, bless his heart. Also paws were swollen from walking on the hot pavement. I had to soak him in an oatmeal bath then slather his feet and hind-end in Teatree oil and lavender lotion to sooth his skin.

He looked like a shiny new puppy when we brought him to his owner.

What a great thread! I bet those critters are very thankful you helped them!
No pics but last fall I saved a baby/small bird. The lawn people seeded areas of the lawn and put that mesh stuff down. I was walking my dog up the back stairs one morning and happened to notice the mesh moving near the edge so looked closer. It was a little bird stuck under it. I lifted it and he/she flew away. I was very happy I noticed it before it was too late.

His legs felt like feather wisps even though he felt heavy for his size.

The animal warden picked him up the next morning. I would have kept him till he was a bit older and stronger then released him but I was caring for a very old sick cat and there is a chance they carry Leprosy.

This little lady crash landed into an open window and knocked herself clean-out. PeaKay had to check her out before I stashed her in a box for a few hours to recoup. I figured she’s fly away as soon as I opened my hand, but she sat there for a few minutes just taking everything in.
