Bank robber. You can do that by yourself, get away with it, and not worry about other gang homies ratting you out or shooting you in the back. I could also have some moral flexibility if it's a corrupt bank that's stealing peoples homes or doing other shady chit.

I'd choose to be a corrupt government official or some corrupt CEO of a large company, they are the real crooks.
For the purposes of this thread though, Carlos Lehder for Medellin was quite an alpha who got laid a lot as well. Escobar's cartel ran Miami with an iron fist and no other criminal organization wanted to screw with them. Drug cartels are the apex predators in the world of criminal organizations, no other organization at its peak could even comprehend or screw with the power that the cartels have in the criminal underworld. Cartels are top dogs, everyone else is just playing second fiddle.

FYI, street gangs like MS-13 and Drug Cartels are not the same thing. Street gangs are full of younger guys who get jumped in. Cartels are full of former military and trained assassins that are blood thirsty but just John Wick type killing machines.

I was in a biker gang. No lie. Didnt know what I was getting in to at first. Guys were cool af, until they started chit. They are like brothers, but that also means dirt and grudges are carried by the group.

Ok srs answer: Italian mob, Michael Franzese type of racketeer. Creative scams. Business minded, no aversion to ripping off the government, but also not a thug or killer. Sometimes I wish I was old enough to experience the glory days of the mob. I hear stories from family and it’s insane. So much money was flowing through the streets. If you were a streetwise Italian dude, you could literally just go down to the gambling joint and rake in more money than any hard working citizens would see. Of course you lost too, but the guys would take care of you when you were down.
Problem was most of those guys were dumber than a box of rocks. Usually ended up getting greedy by moving to worse hustles like dealing, or they’d end up in prison. A family member of mine who was a street gambler in the 80s said he literally blew a million dollars. Now he’s living on social security 100% srs.

Of those choices I voted biker because those guys like to party. Long amphetamine fuelled road trips plus drunk camping trips with the boyos, throw in a few party skanks, what's not to like?
If I get to decide exactly what crime I'm doing, then being a respected white-collar crook for mobsters sounds good. Never have to go to war, if I get busted I get less time than killers and robbers and I can put together enough cash to dip out and retire somewhere a long way away.

International High Finance--the boss of all bosses. When people say 'gangsta' what they mean is a figure of authority that rules through a tyrannical approach (fear & intimidation) - so if i had to be a gangsta i'd probably be a ceo or something.
The local gangster is really just a guy that you would not mess with because it would end worse for you then him - i.e. you're only as gangsta as the next guy if he is below you.
For example if you are a gangsta and then some tradie beats the shyt out of you, you're his b*tch, but the only issue is that a 'gangsta' is not scared to go to prison, so he might retaliate against you, etc.
