Nice fitting plain black or white t-shirts, and nice fitting jeans. High-end polos (preferably black or white). The changes with these items in terms of what's fashionable are usually subtle and nuanced, should be easy to pick something acceptable. You can only go wrong if you're picking like boot-cut or super-skinny jeans and XXL tall Ts lmao, v-necks are bad too, be looking like Salt Bae lol. Always wear them fresh/newish. Throw them out after any signs of wear.

Contrast those with high-end accessories (sunglasses, watches) and shoes, and fashionably styled/cut hair.

Add a high-end fragrance on top.

Dark jeans though? Blue denims make me look like a fisherman

Just stay away from extremes in terms of fit, color, and fade, and obviously nothing extra like studs/rhinestones, "liquid"/wax finish, or cuts/rips lol but I know I don't need to tell you that lmao.

There is a lot to choose from in terms of nuance, but as long as you stay away from the aforementioned, you're good.

one mistake I made was wearing white stan smiths too often and getting them tatty looking in no time.

Going to also return more stuff. I need to be more selective with fit. I have a natural V shape and a lot of stuff that fits across the shoulder but is baggy like a poncho around the waist.

I would usually wear either flat trainers like you posted but in black or proper boots. Plaid shirts can be fine just those two examples were ugly.

"Metrosexual"? Is this from 2005? There was never any such thing as "metrosexual". It was term invented by print-media (magazines) in an attempt to entangle liberal polital views and ambiguous sexuality to a man taking care of himself in terms of fashion, style, and hygiene. It was propaganda with the goal of making people think that only liberal, sexually ambiguous men were clean and fashionable.
