Townhouse vs House

In my area (lol) an 800-900k townhouse is basically new/modern and the same priced house has got like 70's vibes to it.

House has more space/bigger, but in that price range is not as modern as the townhome with the new floors and granite kitchen, etc ,etc

Which would you rather pick?

Do you want a maintenance free? How much do you value privacy? Playing loud music?

Have a townhouse here. I'd go for a single level condo if I had to do it over again. Buy 1-2 extra parking spots and get a high level. Much much cheaper and less maintenance.

I would like to sell my house and move townhouse at some point. How much are the monthly fees average? Like what are all the expenses to consider?

Im really quiet. I live in an apartment right now and I have zero issues with my privacy. Just a thought, im pretty far off from looking at houses at the moment

I'd pick somewhere other than LA
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Townhouse =/= condo

Townhouses around here are just duplexes and you own the land. You still do all the maintenance.

Having owned both, house> for sure

My townhouse is bigger and nicer, but having a shared wall is stupid. I can’t even hear my neighbors but I just know they’re there. And their driveway and front door are too close. Which I had a grass moat around my property still

To me a townhouse just seems like a glorified apartment without a landlord to finance repairs.

It's either apartment or house for me.
