I think they’re a burden on society. The ones I see piss in public, prey on lone women, act like azzholes, etc. etc. I gave food to a hobo one time and saw him throw it out

Remember that scene in breaking bad when hank takes the son to the run down motel and shows him all the drug addicts and homeless? That should be the anti-drug lesson for kids. Just take them to see all the homeless and explain how doing hard drugs sends you down that path.

The OG homeless 10+ years ago were mostly individuals with mental illness. So yes I have empathy for them since they need care.

I’ve seen a new wave of homeless and street people that just seem to be degenerates. When I was visiting the west coat I noticed half of them had better camping gear than I do.

Back to the OGs. Yes it sucks. No I wouldn’t take someone like that in but they are essentially on the streets because of a knee jerk reaction to the government hospitals getting exposed for being complete inhumane hell holes. Then they all shut down and all these mentally ill individuals became homeless. Add drugs and alcohol to the mix.

Instead of spending so much money on able bodied morons and foreign affairs we should reinvest in mental health facilities that can house like 90% of the homeless.

I lived on the street in Madrid in cardboard boxes for a while.. now I love back in London and if I'm heading to town, I hope to have a pound to give to a single homeless person with a good vibe.. always find one.

They are a burden on society, but they are also people, they deserve compassion and respect. Many homeless have mental health issues. The fix for homelessness is not more houses, is better mental health, and institutionalizing people who can't be treated and properly integrated into society.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Most of the people aren't *******s to everybody.. they just can't be asked to deal with everybody's sh*t as well as their own so a lot of them put on a crazy act. If you think about people who get stuck in 'dead end jobs' .. well, people who rarely alleviate their negative circumstances find good ways off the street.. that whole Buddha **** of pleasure is suffering seems to play out if you walk the streets long enough.. I think that most of these people would be happier, led out of the cities and to orchards of plentiful bounty.. but they get addicted to the drug of money, and if it seems to help them at the time they get it.. if things go wrong, without a safe place to sleep and drop a deuce in the morning and have breakfast.. whose gonna keep track for them?

Also this. Regarding housing. Most of the individuals y’all are talking about actually have housing options. They choose to be on the streets. I worked a front line job for a while and met a fair amount of the real homeless y’all describe (again not the new homeless) and they actually had housing situations for them. They just chose not to be there.

I care for them as people, but they are part of the reason that hospital bills and ambulance rides are so expensive, we are paying for the rides and hospital stays they take without paying. On a cold winter night here, it's not uncommon for 15-20 bums to get ambulance rides to stay a few hours in a warm hospital bed because they call 911 saying they're suicidal.

Aha, could just house them? If they had a safe place to keep their stuff, they wouldn't be having things stolen/cleaned into the trash all the time.. they'd be able to build lives from the moment they hit the streets.. and think, whatever else you got going on.. you also lack a tool that you thought you had.. and then to find some place to store a couple things, but can't get access to them.. I've missed jobs and dates and all sorts that could have transformed my life because of trivial occurrences aha.. some of the smallest simplest she*t.. and then you're stressed, and if you do want some food and a cigarette and a coffee.. you don't know what to ask for first.. and if you get one or two, and bump into someone chilled who you share and care with.. then that's awesome.. but you head off your separate way cause homeless are intimidating.. it's a lonely life.

Plenty of spare rooms going.. businesses don't have many people in at night aha.. you walk around the city and so much of the shops and spaces could be dual use.. have a night time cleaning crew the company pays and a morning one too..

But that's just me..

Was homeless 16-19 on and off, ‘street’ homeless, stayed in shelters here and there no more then few weeks at a shot (they suck) stayed in abandoned houses. besides getting plastered here or there with homeless people older then myself at the time. I didn’t do drugs and drank rarely, although I greatly saw the temptations to use. If you were not a drug addict or alcoholic before being homeless you certainly might when you become homeless. It’s boring as phuck, depressing, exhausting, ect.

I sympathize with homeless because of my experience. However most 98 percent are drug addicts or alcoholics, most are homeless because of this mixed with being lazy, plucking over family ect. And no one you know is left to help you. Most will NOT HELP THEMSELVES. while I was homeless I would wake up at 5:30 and be in line at labor ready (day labor) ready to work. I would tell others about it and encourage them to come as I worked 3-5 days a week through them doing labor work in multiple locations across the US. Very very few ever took the advise and would just bum it/ panhandle/ boost **** ect

theres tons of them, more than every and they are usually heavily populated in democrat controlled towns and democrats only solution appears to be higher taxes and more democrat control. its a **** show.

now everyone got their own tent in the middle of the side walk. the cops used to tear that crap down. i remember when homeless people slept on cardboard boxes in the open, better motivation to get a job and do something. and out of the way in an alley or something.

I know there are some good people in bad situations in there. But they are less than 1% from what I've seen.
