sometimes but a lot of towers are out in the middle of nowhere and most actually are fenced off and the access roads have locked gates

yeah this tower isn't that tall, like 160'

in ontario I only worked on 400' + towers, BC we have a lot of towers on mountains so the views are nicer and I don't have to climb as high. Have worked on a 400' tower on top of a big ass mountain though and that view was insane.. but the tower was windy and cold as fuk all year round

I worked with fixed wireless and satellite internet before this and they had me do a bit of tower work so I was able to apply to an opening for an entry level position

Pay range for green guys is not great tbh, in the states you’d prob start at 25/hr, the states is all mom and pop shops that don’t care about you or your safety. Lots of sketchy people in the industry in the states because of that. You guys actually have courses you can take though to get into it and get experienced.

I work for a company that understands work life balance so we get a mix of travel work and local but I’m usually working 10 hour days at least. I get weekends off now but when I first started I was on a travel crew that did 3 - 5 weeks on and 1 week off doing steel work. 12 hour day minimums but that made me a lot more valuable.

I got over my fear by getting my ass up the tower and working.

If you get good at the job and make yourself valuable then six figures is easy to earn (you will work a lot of over time)

It’s not a job for the faint of heart, you are gonna bust your ass and earn your keep.

I can’t speak for America because it’s a whole different ball game over there, you guys use cranes a lot and have towers with platforms on them (sketchy towers I’ll add). Your engineering standards are not great over there.

Right now though I’m getting paid 200 a day on top of 10 hour day pay to go drive around and take pictures of a bunch of sites and will be doing this for 3 weeks.

That’s 1400 a week untaxed added to every pay check
