Good set OP.

I haven't attempted a heavy deadlift in recent months. I've opted for much higher reps on everything since I've been focused on dropping weight, so the fatigue of heavy deadlifts really isn't optimal for me.

That said, last time I deadlifted something heavy for fewer than 3 reps, I think I pulled 515, and it wasn't the hardest thing I've ever done. So I'm going to say 1-2 reps. But I'd really need a few weeks to do a quick 85/90/95% build-up to get used to lower reps if I wanted to really find out.

That’s a spirited warm up for me. I usually do 35 reps or so of 500, but that’s because I focus on tone.

Mirin, I can pull 365 or so like a bish. Goal is 500 club one day, I hope I don’t end up in snap city.

Nice man. I'd think high rep deads would be way more fatiguing than hitting a top single/double?

They are. I've been focusing more on romanian deadlifts for higher reps and even barbell rows for higher reps.

I get a better stimulus/fatigue ratio (to use a term I hear Mike Israetel use a lot) that way and I can do a lot more volume without being tired all the time.

I'll fuk around and do some high rep deadlifts sometimes though. I remember sometime last year, my training partner and I were doing 15-20 reps with 315. Brutal... especially for a bigger guy.

Strong and confident lift, nice~.

As for me, 'bout zero and go easy on the neg cannon as I'm only being honest. Bulged my L4 and L5 twice between 2016-2018 and lost all confidence in returning to conventional deads and squats since. I've gotten onboard with RDLs though as wizard Drew posted above. I'm content with a mid-high rep range to then lead into barbell rows and dumbbell rows, with tons of varied pullups weighted and non- doing the rest for the back.

Back hurts just watching that boyo. Stopped doing heavy lifts that could potentially fuk my back up. I've always had chicken legs though with no hope

0. In fact strong man Robert Oberst says that you shouldn't do heavy deadlifts because the risk isn't worth the reward. It's better to do Dimmell Deadlifts.

Probably like 15-20 touch and go reps. Don't bother with dead stop lifts with reps over 5. Usually do 3x10 with 545

When I'm coming off an injury I'll do 500 as a warm up, prefer 645.

I only do trap bar now because of injury. Did 3 sets of 12 with just over 500 a few weeks ago

I did a conventional deadlift for chits and giggles like 2 weeks ago after no deadlift in like a year and got it for a easy single, only reason I didn’t do more reps is bc I could feel dat der back injury pain coming through, fuk deadlifts srs

Wouldn’t listen to Oberst srs.

No exercise is inherently dangerous anyway. As long as you pay attention to load and fatigue management, all movements are safe and you can keep progressing gradually. Listen to Greg Lehman/Barbell medicine

I hurt my back deadlifting 405 a few years ago, but that was cause my program was chit and I was constantly doing RPE 9-10 sets every session. Been deadlifting pain free for the last two years by managing my load and Intensity and have made great progress. Literally zero pain or discomfort

I legit think this is my problem (and I have a bit of sciatica). It's so fun trying to max deadlifts and pull heavy numbers, but terrible for long term growth trying to do it regularly

same as this guy, also just about the same max DL so makes sense, but im 255 now (been dropping weight to ACTUALLY compete in classic again)

I do hypertrophy style deads now usually 6 plates for 5 then back off to 5 plates for 10

I do 100% neutral spine, wide grip not quite "snatch grip", slow controlled eccentrics, lightly touch and go no reset or bounce. This will blow up your lats, traps, and erectors.

your lifting numbers are way higher than what I would expect for your 1rm(or your 1rm is low compared to your lifting numbers)

My deads were stalled around mid 400s for this reason. Everyone blames deadlifts for being dangerous, meanwhile they’re maxing out with heavy singles and triples every time they step on the deadlift platform lol
