So my girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years (both 22 now). It's relevant to know that she is a transwoman and is on estrogen and has been for a few years. Less relevant but I'm a cis man.

She came to me a few days ago excited to see her friend this weekend. I wasn't really sure why since they see each other all the time but it turns out that this friend is coming off birth control and is going to be giving her birth control pills to my girlfriend to take.

I was very confused to say the least. We don't skirt around the fact that she is biologically male when it comes to medical stuff so I don't know why the **** she is doing this.

I asked and she said that since we stopped using condoms she has had a really bad anxiety about becoming pregnant and that we arent ready for a baby. Wtf? We used condoms at first in case of STDs but after we became exclusive and got clean STD tests we stopped using them. She has never mentioned this anxiety in the whole like 2.9 years.

She said that it's just a womanly anxiety about pregnancy that I would never understand and that I as the man have no idea what woman go through when it comes down to it (?).

Normally I'd be very supportive of something that she wants to do to help with validating her gender. But not this. What do those pills even do to transwomen on e? I asked her to show me studies or even a single person online who has said this is a sane and reasonable thing to do and she can't. If it was harmless sure, but we don't know that it is.

Not only this but she isnt going to tell her Dr about this. This is the biggest thing for me. She's being irresponsible with her health and lying to the people who have helped her in her transition and have given her really amazing medical advice for years and years.

I've begged her to talk to her therapist about this before doing anything but she won't. She said that medical professionals are too controlling of women and I wouldn't understand. That is true is other circumstances but cmon? If I'm in the wrong here please somebody tell me

She said the only way to convince her not to is to agree and go through with a vasectomy. Never discussed this before but it seems so insane to have a totally pointless surgery when she cannot get pregnant. I don't want kids anyway but again wtf

I'd wear condoms again for sure if she wanted me to. That seems like the best approach to this. But she's having none of it and says it isn't safe enough. Not sure why since bc pills can fail too but that is besides the point - she can't be pregnant???????

How do I handle this. I dont know if I can be with someone being like this it's all too much
