The reason “soccer” is greater than ameri-sports

All I hear is bla bla bla 0-0 draw

The thing that makes our sport so great is the difficulty in scoring goals and the comparative rarity of them.

Ok you get the odd 0-0 draw (they’re rare) but the fact a goal is so hard to score means the crowd erupt in pure elation. What h ‘soccer’ fans celebrate vs say, basketball fans the difference in pure joy is clear.


I have been to American sports like basketball and the way the team scores every time they attack it makes the game so boring honestly I left feel like I should have just shown up for the 4th quarter.

You don’t know the feeling of your team getting dominated for 90 minutes but by some miracle you don’t concede and then completely against the run of play you score a 90th minute winner against a far superior side, pure elation. Feel sorry for anyone who hasn’t had those feels

While shocks happen in other sports, ‘soccer’ has more anyone can beat anyone on their day

Also, wtf at not having relegation? The jeopardy of relegation give the teams that have no chance winning the title an interest. A relegation scarp is just as thrilling as a title chase and those ‘boring draws’ can be vital and well celebrated points.

I’ll give you one thing though, I like the way your draft system works so it’s not the same few teams winning everything all the time

Tldr: there’s a reason ‘soccer’ is the most popular and viewed sport in the world

i didnt read all that but there is just something magical about a great teamwork goal or a ridiculous dipping or curling freekick or a bicycle kick or a volley from beyond the 18.

The way goals are scored are way more aesthetic than any other sport

The huge advantage it has is not being designed around advertising like yank sports

Sure they have ads and sponsors but yank sports have commercial breaks every couple minutes so they can spam you with bs. Soccer goes for 45 minutes and has a break then comes back for another 45 (plus injury time)

Can you imagine any other sport that allows you to flop and flail around like you're dying even though no one touched you?
And they at the end of the game just throw a bunch of extra time on the clock.

the only issue i have with soccer is the lack of strategy. even in the NBA the player subs, zones, pick and rolls ext ext ext. the coaching and strategy impact the game. football is almost MORE game plan than talent. Soccer just seems mindless and purely athletic focused. like track. i respect the athletes and it can be fun to watch, but i prefer something with more thinking.

I like the internationalness of soccer. To see teams like Iran vs USA or Argentina vs UK, or Japan vs North Korea is almost like seeing war itself.

The difference is that they don't wear body armor and helmets like sissies. Footballers are real men, the kind you wouldn't want to come across in a dark alley

Hockey is a team figure skating performance with a bunch of sissies wearing armor because they're frightened of a bit of contact

If that where true you wouldn’t have such things as good manager and bad manager. Soccer is a very tactile game. Someone who isn’t into it might just see 22 men running around but all teams have different strategies

I went to an ice hockey game in nyc, was a college game, most similar sport to our football. I loved it and it was such a great vibe in the stadium or arena or whatever, will deffo go again

Loved the fact you can sit there and have a beer. In the uk you can’t have alcohol in any area you can view the game. Causes too much trouble ‘apparently’ so score 1 to American sports for that

Absolutely life affirming. Any dramatic event in a handegg match occurs 30 seconds after you've been bombarded with a bunch of woke ads with trannies or minorities promoting inferior American products made in Asian sweatshops

I was in the UK over the summer during their Euro 2020 run.

Watched the last 2 matches in local pubs and the energy was absolutely unmatched.

You can get exciting 0-0 draws, just like you can get exciting Rugby games where neither side reaches double figures & some of the best test Cricket matches have been five day draws. Serie A was the best football ever back in the 1990's & there were a lot of 1-0 or 0-0 matches. Like John Virgo always says at the Snooker-there is a lot more to this game than potting balls.

Basketball and soccer are basically two sides of the same coin. You both have grown whiny ass men doing parlor tricks for an audience instead of a sport.

I always laugh when I read stuff like this. No strategy lol. Do you think they're just mindlessly kicking the ball around without a strategy?

It has to be used to avoid confusion-Americans know football as helmets, pads & touchdowns, which in Europe is called American Football. Soccer makes it clear for all.
