its a small world and you will run into the same people again. If his current people are cool with him then he should give them the notice to not burn that bridge. also if the company isnt run by chitheads they will give him his last two weeks to turn over his duties to someone else. He knows more about it than we do.

Only benefit to not give 2 weeks is if he thinks they will let him go right there on the spot.
