Best city to live in overall? Low crime, Low CoL, Non-libtard

Any ideas Misc?

For a while I had Dallas in mind but the specific area I was interested in just zoomed up their rent prices within the last few months. Doesn't mean all of Dallas is bad, just the area I looked at at least.

San Antonio would be interesting given its stupid cheap CoL, my manager actually vouched for the area having lived there for a few years.

Another fun idea is Albuquerque but their property tax isn't the cheapest. Thoughts?

Also interested in Huntsville Alabama, Raleigh North Carolina, and Boulder Colorado. Any opinions misc?

Spent a week in SLC.

Would go give a shot. I liked what I saw.

Best bet IMO is find a few interesting cities to you specifically, and then heavily research them. Most statistics like "safest city" are bullchit, you have to get down to the granular level. If there's a few ghetto streets in a city racking up crime, it drags the rest of the city down. Also, check out neighboring towns and cities of the metro you're looking at. Omaha has some real nice ones. COL is another statistic that's kinda weird. I moved to Omaha from CA. The only two things cheaper that mattered to me were rent and gas. Groceries, utilities, fast food, all kinds of chit were either the exact same price or more in some cases. Also, you have to consider your income to cost ratio. Some very low COL areas have incomes that are too low to make it worthwhile (unless you WFH). As for rent/mortgage look at what you need. If all you want and need are a bachelor's pad and a city has supposedly good COL but very tight housing market...you might get boned on finding a place to live. Years ago some ND cities had this issue where housing energy workers was impossible.

I've heard good things about Huntsville (from Katya IIRC) and Bentonville, AR.

Dallas voted 65% democrat. San Antonio voted about 58% democrat. I believe that all the cities you mentioned vote democrat, or at least voted for Biden.

Good luck trying to find a city/metro area that never voted for Biden. Even Forthworth Texas and Salt lake City voted for Biden last election.

My advice is that if you want to live in a large city, don't worry about politics. Just look for a good place to life. Its almost impossible to find a large city in the US that never voted for Biden.
