Only book I've ever read that is equally as boring is atlas shrugged.

It is some exciting stuff if you understand the context and the power it contains

There is action, romance, political intrigue, music, poetry, wise sayings, and much more

That being said, I don't think it's read for entertainment, but to discern the wisdom of God

It's boring to many Westerners because church has become boring and lacking fire and passion

You should see how the underground churches in China come together, it is very surreal to witness it

Westerners sit in a pew for 40 minutes and get bored, they worship for 12 straight hours without stopping

We need cushioned seats and A/C, they hide in abandoned buildings just to hear the Word and risk prison

Like little underground heavens dead srs, would love to reignite that passion for God here in the West

Try some books by Doug Stanhope, 'digging up mother', or 'this is not fame' are WAY better than the bible.

It is reasonable to look at these old texts and see them for what they are: suspiciously what you'd expect if they were stories written by relatively primitive cultures (and not just talking about passages about horse emissions, but the general morality outlined in some of these books, plus the scientific inaccuracies- pretty much everything you'd expect from an ancient, local standpoint, and not some god of the universe). Yes these stories appear to be products of men, and a variety of men from different times no less- plenty of heterogeneity. The particular contradictions and more general contrasts (e.g. between the old and new testament) alone would signify a puzzling, shifty god with multiple personalities if it were indeed all the word of the same god- but indeed there isnt any evidence it is.

Muslims have different beliefs than you, they believe the Quran is the direct word of Allah, which I'll go out on a limb and say you dont believe. Hindus have their own, quite different beliefs, and Mormons have their Book of Mormon. Ancient Egypyt, Greeks, and Romans had their plethora of gods. The point mentioned about the Bible being the "word of God" is just that....it's your opinion. It is reasonable to demand evidence for a claim, as with anything else.

I understand you think you're right, as do the followers of those other religions, but a Hindu may as well say one day you will come to understand Hinduism, or an atheist could say one day you will come to understand that point of view, just the same.
