Misc truck people. Why do you have a 5- 5 1/2 ft bed ?

What’s the point? Especially if you bought brand spanking new… used I can see if you got a good deal.

Mine is a 6.5 bed and I want an 8 tbh.

I want a new truck in the near future. I want a short bed. Why?

- I have no real use for the bed. And when I do im sure the bed being short can be fixed by straps/ropes.
- I live in a major city, parking, traffic, driving etc... No need to drive a literal boat.

Thats pretty much it. The annoyance of the bed being shorter than I needed for a specific task might come up ocne a year and when it does I'll deal with it. Rather than my car always sticking out when parking and having some idiot hit me in a parking lot while im shopping or something. No thnx jeff.

because i don't haul my thIcC sloots in the bed like some Pleb...I ride them in the extra room in my Crew Cab like a true baller. Cab space>Large Bed

If the truck has less than an 8 foot bed, you're driving a car with a large trunk tbh. Never once bought a work truck with a sissy bed on it. Most of the homos i see driving trucks like that around have bro dozer lifts, plush leather seats, and have never towed a trailer lmao. So many sub division cowboys driving around f150 platinums thinking they're hot ****.

My Colorado has a short bed and I've never came across a scenario where I wish it was longer. My penor on the other hand....

5ft bed here. Mainly for ease of parking in busy city streets. Have bed extender and truck rack for bigger items. Have access to full sized truck w/8ft bed and trailer if ever the need arises which is rare.

Short bed + short wheel length = best for off-road trails.

Mines a supercab and I do wish it was a crew. Can’t fit a single obese girl back there. Only my dog.

I didn’t buy a “work” truck

I bought an off road truck I use as a daily driver and use to haul cords of wood. I take it hunting, fishing and camping and backcountry skiing. It checks every box I need plus is fun to drive. I wouldn’t be able to park inside my garage with my power rack if I had 8 foot bed.

Tbh if you’re worried about parking space you don’t need a full sized truck. Are you getting a Tacoma ? They’re short beds are pretty compact even though I think the 6ft beds look good on them
I’ve got a small car so I drive it mostly but I also live in one of the least populated places.

My last truck had a 5'10" bed, current is 6'7". TBH I hardly notice a difference, except it is easier to load a 4 wheeler + coolers in the longer bed.

Not everyone constructs houses with their truck, don’t need to carry plywood or sheetrock daily.

4 comfortable seats, be able to tow just about anything, a bed big enough for lawn duty, appliances, moving, etc all the while being able to park comfortably. If I need more room, there’s a trailer for that.

I’ve always said they should make a 6.5 raptor. Standard “work truck “ bed is 8ft. 6.5 used to be the short bed so it just keeps getting shorter.

8ft here but almost useless to haul things since I have a transfer tank and 5th wheel hitch in it

4 door crew cab ,1 ton,,8ft long box crew.

Brb dont always need it,but when needed the ooptions there. Put the tail gate down and i have 10 feet of truck bed.

Cant count how many times my freinds ask to haul a couch or work supplies cuz their half tone 5 ft box is uselsss half the time sadly.

Brb can haul 16ft peices of lumber without a trailer etc.
Brb my dirtbike fits in with ease.
Brb my quad fits easy and extra room.
Brb good for hauling my 5th wheel camper and no worries and it hitting my cab.
Brb have a tidy(fuel) tank in it and still have 6ft box.
Brb etc.
Habit is powerfull and custom can Kill.

I have an '18 crew cab z71 and it's roomy to me. I'm not really a truck guy, but it gets the job done. Waiting for my condo purchase to close and I'm going to start looking at adding an 18+ Audi RS5 to the garage.

Mall crawling so they can stuff their rat pack in there on huge wheels/tires killing performance and MPG. Can you even put a quad with the tail gate up in a 5.5ft bed? 5.5ft beds look goofy.

Stock yes. A level kit with some decent all terrains and it helps the looks a ton.

we used to have a '70 (i think) crewcab international with an 8ft bed.
it was a damn beast.
it was a work truck though.
used for hauling firewood primarily and our boat.
though it was a standard and that gave my dad trouble when it came to launching and pulling the boat out of the water.

so we sold that and bought a conversion van.

the next truck was 4 wheel drive and automatic and had an 8ft bed also but standard cab so was easier to maneuver.
that was a work truck also.

8ft beds are nice for 8ft building materials (tail gate up) and hauling fire wood.

but a crewcab 6.5 bed is fine for building material also.
you just put the tailgate down.

and if you are getting 10ft lumber you are putting the gate down on all trucks.

Though i've put 16ft lumber in an 8ft bed.
would never do that in a 6.5ft bed.
