How would you have survived the Titanic?

I don't get why people didn't just strip down to their briefs and do some slow paced endurance swimming to keep the blood flowing and stay somewhat warm. If you're a poor swimmer why wouldn't you just find something buoyant to lay on while you wait for help to arrive?

The issue was hypothermia not drowning. Just go unconscious and sink.

Although the rescue ship that showed up could of probably resuscitated many of the floating bodies(life belts). Figuring out what happened to the titanic was more important to them.

I'd have packed an exposure suit. Provide plenty of time to be rescued. Like the one they wear in the crab boats on tv.

Stoop down and crouch behind a load of children from the 1st class elites, then just shuffle onto the life boat and act small.

Lul!

Gotta be trolling, for sure.

Is not like taking cold showers brah.

Atlantic waters, during that night, were below freezing temperature.

Plus... the crew couldn't even swim because of the weight of their balls.

Unfortunately complacency kills.

It depends on what you want to do.

Its great if you like to be at the sea. Cruises have a special "vibe". But like everything... you gotta like the "vibe" to enjoy. It is not for everybody.

Especially nowadays, with all the entertainment on board.

In the early 1910s yes, I agree. Unless you were a 1st class passenger you would have absolutely nothing to do but smoke, read, eat, sleep or walking around.

1st class passengers could do it plus swimming, playing squash, sauna, workout,... (talking about the titanic)

But yeah, cruises are more like a "vibe" than anything else. If you don't feel it/like it, you better just visiting a shopping center.

This is the only way. 99% of the misc would have been lower class. I wonder how many would build a boat though?

I had a dream about this.

As a guy, initially refused entry onto a lifeboat. So I went back to my stateroom, dress myself up in drag, pass myself off as an ugly woman and escape onto a lifeboat.

And OP, I believe the chef survived in a similar way to you described. Drank whiskey which kept his blood warm, long enough to survive until help arrived.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

No we wouldn't!

Did you forget we are all 10k/day CEOs?

Now being srs... majority of us would be 2nd class.

Those are the prices:

Prices at the time (Prices corrected to today)

1st Class - 150 to 4350 (1,700 to 50,000)
2nd Class - 60 (700)
3rd Class - 15 to 40 (170 - 460)

3rd class ppl were mostly immigrants.
2nd class were professors, engineers, architects, doctors
1st class were mostly businessmen and politicians

there was a huge gap between the 2nd and the 3rd class passengers

I'd have brought an inflatable raft with me and started pumping that bitch up at the first sign of us going down.

This is a way more terrifying situation:

skip to 5:38

this guy was trapped inside an air bubble in sunken ship for 3 days:

If on a sinking ship in the n. Atlantic, it is time to hit the bottle.
