I have been living in my house for probably 5 years and never really had an issue with them. We pay like $50 a month and in return we are supposed to get lawn care done once a week mainly in the fall and summer and then our houses are supposed to be painted every 4 years. Can't really complain too much

The problem is that my house hasn't been painted because "the paint froze" and my lawn is dirt. There have been several lawn crews over the years, and recently the current crew either canceled or had their contract canceled so we were without lawn maintenance for several months. The HOA was shopping around for someone and couldn't find anyone for what they wanted so my brother decided to put in a bid. Well he ended up getting the contract and is now responsible for mowing, edging, blowing, leaf removal, hedge trimming and a few other things for the 60 townhomes on our street.

Now hes got a good amount of equipment, and it seems like hes trapped in a bad deal, and after working the contract for a few months it seems like most of the homeowners are being screwed.

Pretty sure everyone on my street pays the same HOA dues. The lawn service comes out to about $10 per lawn but not all lots are the same. The majority of my neighbors are all getting $3-8 jobs while the HOA and larger lots who are lodging complaints are getting white glove service jobs that would run them $50 and the large lots are getting lawncare that would run them hundreds of dollars.

Not really sure what to do in this situation. We have an annual HOA meeting coming up next week and me and my brother are considering attending to voice our complaints in regards to the service we have been providing.

Never dealt with an HOA before or a contract with an HOA or even a contract with the same HOA im paying for.

My brother basically went into this knowing it would be some extra money and that it would be literally impossible to find someone that could do a better job for cheaper and somehow the HOA is still holding the paycheck over his head saying the job is not satisfactory. Raging at the thought that I took care of one yard that somehow had 3 years of acorns in it or that its the first time any of our neighbors have seen lawn/leaf bags on the curb in 5 years and the HOA is basically dangling a carrot saying the work isn't done. Several of the houses have called my brother after hours to take care of a complaint, and those houses have just increased their complaints. No other lawn crews would come after they have left for the day for a single house.

Im not even sure what you do in this situation? Back out of the contract and then re-negotiate? Wait for the contract to end and re-negotiate? Get elected to the HOA? Pass some type of vote? Do the work and if they ask for anything extra then tell them to **** themselves? It sucks that this is some of the best yard work thats ever been done on our street at the lowest possible bid and still being told its not satisfactory. If we completely backed out everyone would be worse off and the HOA cartel would probably get another crew in that would only focus on their homes. fuk wut do?
