CCNA is worthless without at least 5 years of solid networking experience. I have 3 plebs under me who have CCNAs.

You need experience. The best way to do that is to grind it out at any job you can get while doing pro boner work on the side for small businesses. Their reviews and recommendations are worth gold.

Correct. Finally after six months but it is a temporary config center position. Trying to prevent myself from getting screwed for obvious reasons. Applying to a more SECURE and hopefully higher paying job but being patient overall. Just don't want the "contract" to end early with nothing lined up or not have anything lined up at all and be screwed with gap on my resume.

That is brutal bro. Experience is important which is why I am thankful to finally be in the field even if it is some temp smooth-brain none-sense. I just want to make sure I take full advantage in-order to transition this into a more secure role as it is only temporary as mentioned. Unfortunately. Not that this would be a great job for more then maybe 6 months anyway but still.

Now I have a non chitty paid internship under a Systems Administrator getting my hands on all of that JOOCY experience for a pay RAISE when I finish in 4 months. Sooner if I want, but the more knowledge I keep the better.

Currently at $17 which is not terrible. About 35k gross. should be around 50-60k gross once I get a more permanent job lined up which I have been applying and interviewing for the past week or two after getting settled into this position.

Actually interviewed for a junior network admin position last week at an insurance company.

Shame on me for trying to be ambitious and challenge myself. If only I had the foresight to recognize that was somewhat foolish but a CCNA is still benefiting me greater as I advance in my career compared to an A+ which barley matters.

I would stay longer if they offered me a more permanent role but kinda doubt they will. If they did and I didn't have anything lined up I would just to buy extra time. The few interviews I have had so far seem to be pretty understanding that while I got my foot in the door this situation is most likely not permanent and most people need a permanent job so I don't think it is working against me to badly but in the generally rule of thumb I wouldn't switch jobs prior to 1-2 years.

Currently applying at everything hoping something sticks. Doesn't seem to hard to get something that would practically double my salary but I would also like for the position as well as the company to be rather decent opposed to this virtually dead-end particularly chitty company I am with now.

Currently have CCNA as mentioned but trying to build on that by getting the SAA-co2.

Hoping to be in a much better position within the next 5 months or so from there I will stay for a year or two before moving on.

Here is a very good certification road map in case you need some direction:

You could easily pass the Security+ for example and it give huge bang for your buck. Is required by the feds in most cases.

Very cool. Once I get the SAA-co2 and renew my CCNA with either CCNP in security or **** in security I am at a bit of a loss at to where to go from there so very cool. I appreciate it.

I hear you. Tbh, I kinda lucked out with my CCNA. I only had about 4 responses about out of 80 resumes sent(In regard to Networking/Help Desk), but I ended up landing a 1 year contract at a NOC and I start tomorrow.

I can't really give out veteran advice, but one thing that helped me was being open to relocating. All 4 jobs that responded to me were all looking for fresh CCNAs but each one was located in a different city. These jobs are out there. The only issue is that there are not that many and not centric to one city.

My current role(NOC Engineer), the recruiter told me they were looking for fresh CCNAs again and was once again a 1 and done interview process.

I would just say apply to any and all positions in NOCs if thats where you want to go. Your current experience should get you a lot more looks with the CCNA. I'm looking to get into Cyber/Network engineering, so once I'm settled in this role, its CCNP/OSCP for me.

I would like to think that a year exp + CCNA + AWS-SAA could land a solid network/cloud/desktop support role, but I'm new to all this.

I think you got pretty lucky to be honest. Not that it is a bad thing. I live in a pretty HCOL area which is generally very good for tech but rather bad for NOC centers so unfortunately there really aren't any here.

Yeah. It seems like with my current experience + CCNA does make a huge difference compared to before but still in the beginning of the process bit a bit traumatized since I was applying so much while I was getting a reasonable amount of calls back for interviews it seems as though I would always get passed over due to no experience even though they probably would've hired me if I was in the field currently at the time.

Thanks BOYO. You too. Thankfully things are working out but a bit stressed about trying to get out of this place into a better role / company.
