Thoughts on Huntsville, AL? Reps 4 answers

Considering it as a place to move.

Anyone ever visited or lived near there? What did you think of it? Measlies on the line

From my perspective:
Seems cheap but nice, conservative for a city, semi-religious, decent weather most of the year, sports leagues, decent amount of gyms.
Only 67% white, but idc about race really, and maybe race there isn't a huge ordeal like it is in Oregon (FUK ME)
No idea about dating, culture, misc stuff.

It's nice lots of hispanics, but they work hard. Very conservative for sure which is cool.

It's only 2-3 hrs from ATL, and other major cities, and you can also go down to gulf shores. Alabama isn't so bad only thing is people are really huge into college football lmao they will look at you like you're an alien if you don't follow it.

lol same stuff here in Oregon (I'm not from here). I don't give 2 chits about college sports, but everyone here is obsessed.

Repped for response! Thanks!

Great place to retire. Honestly don't think I want to move there right now, but maybe when I'm mid 50's and just want to spend my days chilling in my mansion, then it would a good time to move there.

If you check out the houses in the area they're insane. Literally not joking when I say mansion.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

And I only looked for like 5 seconds. Guarantee there's even bigger and better deals floating around the area

Haven't been, but looks nice and is supposed to have more highly educated people and more people from other places due to the employers in the area.

I tried to get my daughter to at least consider it. Even played a video.

Not that she is the final arbiter of anything, but she will be legally an adult in a short time. Says she would rather go north and in the south only feels okay about TX or maybe FL if we could somehow live by some people she knows there.

Charlotte, NC has been a contender for me FWIW because of a broad base of employers, a hub airport, and that it is also an area with a lot of people from other places which I think can make it easier to make friends as an adult- not landing in a place where everyone already has all their friends and family time full up.

Repped. Why would you not move there now? I'm 31, single, conservative, no kids, so I definitely don't fit the retire and chill mood lol.

I met a girl from there.

I suppose wholesome families live there, but it seemed incredibly uninteresting.

What info? There was nothing interesting about her background there. Seemed like a very plain place.

Huntsville is an incredibly nice, clean, safe city. Highest IQ in the country IIRC. It's very conservative, and most people "settle down" after HS/college, meaning the nightlife/dating scene is scarce. Beautiful countryside, fun things to do downtown, but it is a smaller "city". Really great place to have kids and live, but not a great place to be single. YMMV.
