Most likely going to get negged for posting but might as well let you know beforehand:

I had some slight pain when my root canal was performed and then moderate pain afterwards when the painkillers wore off for the day

I used to be somewhat afraid of needles.

I had a root canal done WITHOUT novacain in 1995. Ever since I have never been afraid of needles again. The pain was amazing horrific.

Have done 2 root canals on people who were too pu$$y to get the shot. I mean the needle phobia was so bad that they did root canals without anesthetic. Didn't flinch at all during so kudos

It hurts a bit and you do feel all kinds of pressure. For me, my mouth hurt a lot because you have to keep it open for long periods of time. Also, debris sometimes falls into your throat and you start to choke.

Yeah you don't flinch, a person is drilling in your teeth. If you move even a little the pain intensified. But it's a different kind of nerve pain you feel like electricity directly in your brain.

My thinking was this is how they did it back in the day and those people surived.

i lucked out last week! I was to have a root canal on Thursday. After further testing though it was determined I don't need one! At least not for now. The tooth will just be monitored. I'm not in pain with it either, so long as I don't chew anything tough on that tooth.

Good luck with your dental work. I've had two root canals before. The first was as bad as it gets. It hurt. The other was a cake walk.

I mean it's a reflex at that point. Directly stimulating a nerve feels like an electric shock.

If you feel anything just keep telling them to shoot you up with more novocain. Spray that chit on the exposed pulp. You won't feel a damn thing.
