Moral/ethical quandry/question (srs)
If you move one person from death by starvation to living in poverty on the edge of starvation, have you done a good thing?
What if the unintended consequence of that "good thing" is that, in just 20 short years, there will be an additional 6 people born who come into this world at risk of death by starvation? If you help those people, is that a "good thing"?
What if that "good thing" now leads to 36 more people existing at the edge of starvation?
Then 200?
Then 1200?
Then 7200?
Then 30000?
Then 180000?
Then 1 million?
